Aaron Maniam - Chief Adjudicator<br />
Aaron is a civil servant in Singapore's Strategic Policy Office and<br />
previously served as First Secretary (Political) in Singapore's<br />
Embassy in Washington DC. He was a founding Committee<br />
Member (1999-2003), Vice President (2003-2005), President<br />
(2005-July 2006) and subsequently Advisor (2006-2007) of<br />
Singapore's Debate Association. He won the European <strong>Debating</strong><br />
<strong>Championships</strong> (2000) and other inter-varsity competitions during<br />
his university days and chaired Oxford's Debates Selection<br />
Committee, which comprises the university's top eight debaters.<br />
He also convened Oxford's annual inter-varsity debating<br />
competition, attended by over 80 international teams, in 1999.<br />
Aaron was a WSDC debater in 1997, an adjudicator in 1999 and<br />
2004, and co-coach in 2003. He has served on working groups to<br />
streamline the Code of Conduct for WSDC adjudicators as well as<br />
a "Vision Group" to explore how to broaden the WSDC's global<br />
ambit. A published poet, his first collection Morning at Memory's<br />
Border was published in 2005 and was one of three books<br />
shortlisted for the 2006 Singapore Literature Prize.<br />

WSDC 2008 in Washington D.C. is pleased to offer excellent<br />
accommodations throughout the competition. The tournament<br />
hotel is conveniently located next to public transportation that will<br />
allow you to access the city and all it has to offer. Here are a<br />
couple of things to keep in mind about accommodations:<br />
(1)Your registration includes lodging in double rooms from<br />
September 5-15, 2008.<br />
(2)For additional nights before or after, we can offer you the<br />
same rate the tournament is paying. We must inform the hotel<br />
ourselves though. At check in, you will provide arrange payment<br />
