Collection<br />
Householders are encouraged<br />
to make optimal use <strong>of</strong> their<br />
ONE household junk verge<br />
collection <strong>and</strong> stack heavy <strong>and</strong><br />
bulky items neatly to ensure<br />
maximum recovery <strong>of</strong> valuable<br />
recyclable materials.<br />
These items should be<br />
separated from general junk so<br />
they can be recycled:<br />
E-<strong>Waste</strong><br />
(eg. computer equipment & TV’s)<br />
Mattresses<br />
White goods<br />
Scrap metals<br />
Importa nt Reminders<br />
Rubbish can be placed on the verge nine days<br />
prior to the scheduled collection date.<br />
<strong>Waste</strong> put out AFTER the published collection<br />
date will not be collected.<br />
It is illegal to place household junk <strong>and</strong><br />
greenwaste in parks, reserves, vacant blocks<br />
<strong>and</strong> commercial property. Penalties <strong>of</strong> up to<br />
$62,500 may apply.<br />
The <strong>Recycling</strong> Centre Balcatta can accept<br />
a diverse range <strong>of</strong> items free <strong>of</strong> charge. See<br />
the separate section in this guide for more<br />
information.<br />
Items over 1.5m in length will not<br />
be collected.<br />
Before disposing <strong>of</strong> household junk waste<br />
consider the following:<br />
Does it have any value?<br />
Can someone else benefit from it if it’s<br />
recycled?<br />
Where is the best place to take it for<br />
recycling?<br />
How will it impact the environment<br />
if sent to l<strong>and</strong>fill?
