practices as hard as he plays...also ran track, a four-year letterman,<br />

for Plano West...recorded a 10.77-second 100-meter time in<br />

2010...ran the 200 in 21.72 seconds in 2011.<br />

2012 Season: Led the <strong>Lobos</strong> with a career-best three receptions<br />

at Texas Tech, totaling 33 yards ... carried the ball twice at No. 17<br />

Texas on Sept. 8 and recorded his first career reception ... also<br />

returned the first three kicks of his career against the Longhorns,<br />

totaling 44 yards with a long of 25 ... made his collegiate debut<br />

against Southern on Sept. 1 and scored his first career touchdown<br />

on a seven-yard run with 14:56 remaining in the fourth quarter ... he<br />

finished the game with two carries for 11 yards.<br />

A fifth-year senior who has the potential to shine as one of the best<br />

tight ends in the country...is enjoying an unprecedented run of success<br />

as a Lobo tight end with 55 receptions combined over the last<br />

two seasons...has added more than 30 pounds to his frame since<br />

before his junior season...tight ends coach Derek Warehime says<br />

the added weight will help him as a blocker and make him a complete<br />

tight end....one of five players to start every game for New<br />

Mexico in 2011...an Academic All-Mountain West honoree in the<br />

fall of 2011...a hamstring injury slowed him during the first part of<br />

spring, but began to show the form that earned him a 2010 All-MW<br />

honor during the end of spring practice...a preseason candidate for<br />

the John Mackey Award (that goes to the nation’s best tight end)<br />

in 2011...35 career games with 27 starts and he has 72 catches in<br />

three seasons at UNM...a two-time All-American who was a firstteam<br />

All-Mountain West Conference season in 2010...tall, rangy<br />

tight end who should be a key factor in the Lobo offense in `12...has<br />

shown the ability to be a real receiving weapon and a dangerous<br />

red zone-target...has made good strides in his blocking at the line<br />

of scrimmage and creates match-up problems for smaller DBs as a<br />

downfield receiver...will only get better as he continues to grow into<br />

his frame and his strength improves...a late bloomer in high school<br />

who was just 6-2 and 185 pounds entering his junior season...older<br />

brother, Brooks, was a three-year starter (2008-10) at defensive<br />

end for the University of Arizona and was a second-round pick<br />

(42nd overall) of the Houston Texans in the 2011 NFL Draft.<br />

2012 Season: Recorded his first reception of the season against<br />

Texas Tech on Sept. 15 ... started his 30th career game against the<br />

Versatile offensive lineman who emerged from spring practice as<br />

the first-team center...started his Lobo career at center before moving<br />

to tackle in 2011...is among the 50 centers on the Rimington<br />

Trophy Award watch list. The award goes annually to the top center<br />

in the nation...showed his toughness along with LaMar Bratton as<br />

the two offensive linemen to take every snap in spring practice team<br />

drills...voted team co-Offensive Line MVP with Bratton in 2011...<br />

has a good knowledge on the innerworkings of all five line spots...<br />

trained behind first team all-MWC center Erik Cook during his redshirt<br />

season in 2009...Cook is now with the Washington Redskins...<br />

teammates voted Farrell the <strong>Lobos</strong>’ Most Valuable Offensive Scout<br />

in 2009...continues to improve his strength in the weight room and<br />

will be a staple up front for the <strong>Lobos</strong> in 2012...a late bloomer who,<br />

amazingly, was 5-8 and 160 pounds as a ninth grader.<br />

2012 Season: Against Texas Tech on Sept. 15 he graded out at 98<br />

percent assignment for the second consecutive week ... recorded<br />

three knockdown blocks aginst the Red Raiders and finished with<br />

an overall grade of 74 percent ... graded out at 98 percent assignment<br />

on 65 plays at No. 17 Texas ... led the team with an 82 percent<br />

overall grade and eight knockdown blocks vs. the Longhorns as he<br />

turned in the line’s best performance ... started at center against<br />

Southern on Sept. 1 and had a 79 percent overall grade, including<br />

100 percent on assignments in 39 snaps.<br />

A natural leader who emerged as the glue on the offensive line<br />

in 2011...starting the 2012 fall camp competing with Dillon Farrell<br />

for the center position and the player who doesn’t win the starting<br />

job almost assuredly will start at right guard...showed his toughness<br />

along with Farrell as the two offensive linemen to take every<br />

snap in spring practice team drills...was named the team’s co-Outstanding<br />

Offensive Lineman in 2011...made all the line protection<br />

calls and coordinated the unit as a redshirt freshman...possesses<br />

a strong knowledge of the game and will be a bigger force in 2012<br />

as he gets physically stronger as well...one of seven <strong>Lobos</strong> to earn<br />

Academic All-Mountain West honors in 2011.<br />

2012 Season: Graded out at 100 percent assignment on 41 plays<br />

at Texas Tech ... it was the second straight week he recorded 100<br />

percent on assignment ... tied for the team lead with four knockdown<br />

blocks against the Red Raiders and was third on the team<br />

with an overal grade of 77 percent ... led the <strong>Lobos</strong> with 100 percent<br />

on assignments in 65 plays at the 17th-ranked Texas Longhorns on<br />

Sept. 8 ... tied for second on the team with four knockdown blocks<br />

against Texas and finished with a 79 percent overall grade... Started<br />

at guard against Southern on Sept. 1 and maintained an overall<br />

grade of 80 percent in 50 plays, second best among the starters.<br />
