Objectives of this presentation • To give an introductory overview to the area of monolith reactor modelling • To high light some of the factors that must be taken into consideration when choosing a model. 2
Why use computer modelling? • Experiments are expensive and take time. • Analysis of reactors can be difficult, especially for fast highly exothermic reactions. Non-intrusive measurement methods may not be available. • Modelling can eliminate scenarios that do not offer promise. • Faster design and optimisation. Models are not intended to eliminate experiments completely. 3
