Welcome! Irvine Valley College offers more than 60 associate degree majors and 40 career and
technical certificate programs along with other educational options. With so many choices, it is
our hope that this catalog will help you plan and achieve your educational goals. All of us—the
Irvine Valley College (IVC) administration, faculty and staff—are committed to your academic
success and ensuring that you have a positive and rewarding educational experience while you
are here.
As you explore the college and the catalog, it is my hope that you become more familiar with our
programs, academic policies, and support services. Here are just a few things you should know:
IVC is proud to be ranked #1 in Orange County and #3 among all California community colleges
for its transfer rates. As the 2012-2013 academic year begins, we have approximately 15,000
students attending IVC from our neighboring communities and over 40 foreign countries.
Our dedicated and enthusiastic faculty and counselors—many with regional, national, and
international reputations—have extensive knowledge and expertise to share with you. The
college offers many state-of-the-art multimedia-equipped classrooms and labs, as well as a
variety of student services designed to ensure you thrive. By taking advantage of campus services, you will be connected to
resources designed to make your college experience meaningful and less stressful. IVC offers students financial aid, counseling,
free tutoring services, support for veterans, career planning, student activities—including clubs and athletics, and much more.
For those of you interested in going on to a four-year college or university, we have transfer admission guarantee programs with
University of California and California State University campuses, as well as private institutions. We hope you find that IVC offers
flexible course formats and scheduling to meet a variety of needs. We offer full-length and short semesters, hybrid and distance
learning opportunities, as well as instruction during the day, evening, and weekends. In addition, our Student Success centers are
provide an array of support and tutoring services that help you stay in college, succeed, or transfer.
