1. Lost in the old castle
One night, I walked in the woods near a little village. It was a very dark night and
there was thick fog in the air. I wanted to look for my dog, but I didn’t find him.
Suddenly, I saw a broken signpost in the snow, and it said: “One mile to the
castle of Nidgecombe”. Then I went to the castle in thick dark fog. A little bit later,
I was in front of the castle. That was a big castle. So, I went into the castle. In the
castle, it was very dark, but I couldn’t find a candle. Then I went into the diningroom.
There were lots of armaments of old knights. Suddenly, I heard a noise. I
went near the big chair of the king. There was a ghost! I cried for help, but the
ghost hid behind another chair. He was afraid of me. Then, I “excused” myself for
the incident, and then, I ran quickly out of the castle to the village.

2. The ghost in the castle
Last Friday I went with my friends to a castle where there was a party. We read
in a newspaper about the party. When we came there, nobody was in the castle.
But the door was open. We decided to go into the castle. We looked in the whole
castle for someone, but we found nobody. Then I heard voices in front of the
garage of the castle. We decide to go into the garage. On the way I got a bad
feeling. Then I opened the door of the garage. My friends were near behind me.
There was a very big old cupboard. We thought the voices came out of it.
Johannes opened the door of the cupboard. Suddenly a very ugly ghost flew out
of it. We started to cry and ran in a hurry out of the garage. We got into our car
and drove away. At home we told this story to all ours friends, but nobody
believed us.

3. The two adventurers
There are two adventurers. They go into the jungle. Suddenly they hear as a tiger
bellows. The men are afraid and they run deeper into the dark jungle. And then
one of the two men, Dean was the name, sees an old city. He walks to the city
and he sees a girl on a table of stone. A man comes out of a temple with a knife.
He walks to the girl and kills the girl. Dean cries and runs to man with the knife
and attacks him. The man runs away. The girl wakes up and she runs after the
man. Dean is surprised. Isn’t the girl dead? Suddenly another man calls: ”Cut!
What are you doing here? Why do you break our turning operations? Don’t you
understand? This is a film!!!” Dean blushes and walks away. Verena Mayer
4. A dark shape with a knife
I want to tell you something about a really, really bad man. It was last night, as a
dark shape, it was my neighbour, left his house. He came toward our house and
went around it twice. It seemed as if he was looking for something or somebody.
Suddenly, he stopped and he pulled something out of his bag. It was a knife. It
sparkled in the moonlight.
“Will he really do it?”, I thought full of fear. Yes, he did! He swung the knife over
his head and stabbed at it. He took all of them. All! I still cannot believe it, my
nice carrots! I have cultivated them with so much love! Frederik Zorn
5. The terrible „ghost“
Monday, 9 o'clock in the evening: Natalie is walking through the woods near her
house in Salvadore City – a small city in GB, which nobody knows. Near her a
dog is jumping and running. It has a neon collar and on this collar, there is a blue
lead (Hundehalsband). The forest is really quiet this evening and Natalie thinks to
be in a fridge. It's very cold for a summer night ...
Natalie worries. She doesn’t line to be outside any more. Because of the
darkness, the fog and because she's tired, she turns herself around and goes
with Sandra – it's her dog's name – back. When she has taken the half way,
Sandra doesn't want to go on... Natalie says: “Come on, Sandra! I want to go
ho...“ Suddenly she stops. In front of her, she sees two shining points in the

darkness and the fog... They are coming toward her... She can hear some
terrible noises – but at this moment Sandra runs toward the lights! “Sandra! What
are you doing? Come back!“, Natalie cries, as she loses the lead.
But now she can see more than just a shape: It's another girl with her dog. What

6. Walking tour with consequences
It was a cold day in winter as our class did a walking tour at night. It was very
nice and we had so much fun until a big and a small shape came toward us. As
they came nearer we saw an ugly old man without black hair and a terrible dog.
We were a bit afraid because of them. The ugly man told us :"This part of the
woods, where we are, is really dangerous. Don't be silly and go home!" Our
teacher Mr. Gingrich asked him: "Why should this part of the woods be
dangerous ?" The man was quiet, then he told us about ghosts and terrible
witches. We were a bit afraid but the teachers thought that the man was crazy.
We went further, but suddenly we saw that some pupils were absent. We
wondered what we should do now. Suddenly, an old woman came and she said:
"I know where the children are. Follow me." She led us into a cave where we
found the missing pupils. The pupils were very afraid and told us of bad people
looking like ghosts, which had carried them away from us. Now, we weren’t sure
there weren't any ghosts in these woods. The teachers and we were going home.
And we will never go to these woods at night again.

7. The man with the axe
When Max is standing up, he sees that he’s in the woods. But he doesn’t know
how he came to this place. Under the woods it’s dark and thick fog is coming up.
So Max is very afraid. Suddenly he hears noises. But when he looks around he
can’t see anyone. Suddenly a man comes from behind a tree and takes an axe
out of his belt. When the man swings the axe over his head, Max runs away and
cries of fear. The man follows him through the fog. Then he is in a trap: in front of
him there is a wall and behind him there is the man with the axe. Max cries of
pain, when the man beats him with the axe. In the end Max faints. But when he
wakes up, he sees that he is lying on his bed. And it doesn’t seem that he’s
dead. The man with the axe doesn’t exist. All was just a dream. The End

8. A Ghost Story
After a party, Liz and Liam go home. It’s ten o’clock p.m. and it’s very dark. They
go through the woods, because it’s a short-cut. Suddenly, they see a big, old
castle. They want to go into the castle, but …
What’s this? There’s a light. Liz says to Liam: ”Let’s go into the castle. I want to
know why there’s some light in it.” So, they go into it.
There’s a deadly silence. But suddenly, a man is crying: ”Help me!
Heeeeeeeelp!” The girls are scared. Thick fog is coming up from the sea and
moving around them. Everything is white and it’s very quiet. In this silence, Liam

begins to cry: ”Look, Liz! Look, there is a shape in front of us.” Liz looks, but she
can’t see anything. Suddenly there is some noise behind them.
They see a dark shape. It is coming towards them out of the fog. It is …
Sebastian.
He says: ”Surprise! Happy birthday, Liam! There’s a party for you near here.
Come with me, I can show you the way.
Two minutes later, they’re at the party. Liz and Liam are very happy, but at 1
o’clock a.m. their dad fetches Liz and Liam and they go home. Philipp Pordzik
9. The shape in the woods
"Oh no!", Liz says. "My watch isn't here, it must be in the woods." Mrs Braden
asks: "Do you want to go there now? It's ten o'clock!" "But mum!", Liz says,
"Tomorrow, I will not find my old way any more." She puts on her shoes and her
jacket and then she leaves.
Outside, it's dark and cold. Only the stars are bright, but the trees hide them, as
Liz walks into the forest. She follows the way through the woods, while she's
looking for her watch with a flashlight. After ten minutes, she sees that something
is sparkling between the trees. So she leaves the way. When she's almost near
the thing, suddenly she can hear steps. She looks around and sees a dark
shape who's coming towards her. She loses the flashlight. Then she cannot find
the path, but the shape is coming nearer and nearer. She hides behind a tree
and the shape walks against the tree. "Ouch!“ the shape cries. Liz goes round
the tree and sees Liam, her brother. "Hello, Liz!", he says, "Mum found your
watch in the bathroom. Because my flashlight wasn't in my cupboard, I only saw
your footprints and I followed them." "Ah. Thank you. But how do we go home?",
Liz asks. Liam answers: "I know the way. Look, at the hills around here."
While they are going out of the woods, suddenly Liam asks: "Stop! Where do you
have my flashlight?"

10. The Black Tree
We have been living in this city fort two weeks. Our house is standing near the
woods. My brother had the idea to build a house of trees in the woods. I’m writing
in my diary, but I must put it away because it is knocking on my door. It’s my
brother Frank. He is standing before our room. Frank: “Come on, let’s start to
build a house of trees!” We start to walk into the woods. The deeper we walk into
the woods the colder it is. Suddenly we see a black tree. It is standing alone on
its place. All the other trees are standing in a distance. “Ok!” This tree is perfect!
Let us begin!”, says Frank. I put my tools on the floor and I am looking at the tree.
It is very old. After a few hours I am looking at my watch. Eight o’clock? “Come
on, we must go home!”, I say. “No, there is still a lot of time, come on, we must
go on building!”, says Frank. At 10 o’clock it is completely dark. But Frank doesn’t
want to go home and suddenly the tree is getting quite white. “What’s that?”, I’m
asking. A man appears from behind the tree. Frank and I, we want to run away
but suddenly many persons are standing around us. They are quite white.
“Frank! These are ghosts!”, I am screaming “We are lost!”. Frank begins
screaming and pushes a ghost over. “Come on!”, he screams and we run out of

the woods. In front of our house we stop and turn. There isn’t any ghost. We look
at one another and sigh. Since this evening we have never gone into the woods
any more.

11. The terrible noise
It’s a normal day in Edgecombe. Liz is watching the sky. It’s very dark. Suddenly,
Liz’s mother is crying: “Liz, fetch the rubbish and do away with it!” Liz goes to the
dustbin. Suddenly, she hears a terrible noise in a shrub, Liz thinks: “What’s this?”
She goes to the shrub. She’s afraid. She touches the shrub and what does she
see? There is Liz’s dog, Milly. Liz draws a deep breath and she goes back into
the house. What a shock!!
In the house, Liz asks her mother: “Mum, Milly is outside the house. What is she
doing? It’s half past ten!” Liz’s mother answers: “I don’t know! Perhaps, she
wanted to frighten you!” Liz says: ”Ha, ha, very funny!!” Kai Martin
12. The black night
Eleven o’clock.
The old widow Mary McLee is sitting alone at home. It’s a very windy night and
it’s raining cats and dogs. Her house is deep in the woods. There’s much fog
around it.
Mary is very tired and she wants to go to bed. She is going to sleep quickly.
But suddenly she wakes up. She’s listening loud noises. She stands up and
looks for the reason. Perhaps it’s only her dog? But Ghost isn’t in his (dog)
basket. Mary is alarmed and she runs to the kitchen. There, she faints, exactly
near Ghost’s cadaver…

13. The missing children
A boy and his little sister are playing in the woods. They are running around and
then fog is coming. Later darkness comes and the two kids get lost. They go
around and the big brother can see an old house on the hill. They are going to it.
The windows are broken, it is cold and terrible. The little sister can see footprints
and cries loud because she thinks there is a bad ghost. "We are helpless!" The
boy says: “Be quiet, we must make a fire, but be careful!"
In the night the girl can’t sleep. On the next morning they shout for help and a
man with black trousers comes around. He says: "Follow me, I’ll show you the
way!" After half an hour the boy says: "Stop, wait, from here I know the way." "Its
o.k.", answers the man. ”I have to go to the other direction!"
The children say: „Thank you mister." They go a short time and then at the next
crossroads the little sister says:”We must go right now." But the boy thinks: "No,
we have to go left." They fight and suddenly a policeman comes. He asks: "Are
you the two kids of the Brians? Your parents are looking for you. What did you do
in the night? ”The girl answers: "We were lost, because it was dark. Then we saw
an old house and spent the night there."
The policeman says:" All right, now I’ll take you home."

When the children can see their home they run to the parents and everything is
o.k.

14. The adventure in the woods
It is a dark night. In the village it is quiet. Sandra and Gina are sitting in the
computer room and they are playing a computer game. Outside it is snowing.
Sandra and Gina want to do a walk through the woods. They go out of the house
and go into the woods. In the woods there is fog everywhere, but Sandra and
Gina walk along the footpath. Suddenly Sandra sees an old house in the middle
of the woods. From the house she hears loud voices. Gina hears the voices too,
but suddenly it is quiet. A shape is leaving the house. Sandra and Gina are
afraid. Gina has a flashlight with her. The flashlight shines on the footpath.
Sandra sees footprints in the snow and she stops. She asks Gina : “Is it a
person?” Gina answers : “I don’ t know! I’m afraid!” The shape comes towards
them. Gina can’ t go on and runs away. After that Sandra follows her. The two
run back together and go into their house. At home Sandra and Gina are in the
living room and they drink tea. Their mum come home and they tell her the
adventure.

15. From another world
It's eight o’clock in the evening. I'm alone at home. My parents left the house to
go to the theatre and my big sister stays overnight at a friend. I remove my plate
and sit down to watch TV, because my favourite TV shows are on now.
Something is lying in front of me on the table. I stare at it anxiously. My heart's
knocking. Carefully I approach this deep brown and wrinkled thing. It looks like
from another world... I take it in my hand, look in it and it shudders me. Yes, it's
my empty purse.

16. The shape in the woods
It's a dark day and it is snowing like crazy. The Bradens are sitting in their living
room and watching TV, but Milly wants to play outside. "No Milly, not now!", says
Liam. Nobody wants to go out with the dog, so Liz must do that, because it's her
dog. She puts on her hat, her scarf and gloves and then they go into the woods.
They follow a small footpath. Everything is white and Liz can see nearly nothing.
Suddenly, Milly runs away. "Milly come here!", shouts Liz, but the dog doesn't
come. The girl runs to Milly and says: "You must stay with me!". When she wants
to go back to the footpath, she sees a very old house. It's ugly! All of a sudden
everything is quiet and Liz hears nothing, but then a loud voice shouts: "What are
you doing here?". The girl thinks: "It's a ghost!". And she begins to cry. But then
Liz sees some footprints in the snow. Maybe it's an old ugly witch with a green
face!! She's afraid. And now, a dark shape is coming towards Liz. Milly barks like
crazy. the two run away, but the shape chases them. They run up the hill and
now Liz can see the road. As the girl looks back, the shape isn't following them
any more. Liz is very happy, because they're safe. She runs home and tells the
story, but nobody believes her, so Liz goes into her room. As she look at the
calendar, she sees, it's Friday the thirteenth !!!

17. The dark night
It is quarter to eight. Sandra is with her best friend Tina Parker. Tina is in her
bedroom and feeding her small cat Sweetie, Sandra is waiting at the door.
Sandra: “Hey, Tina, it is time to go! Hurry up! It is a very long way to the cinema
and our mum cannot drive us! Our friends are waiting at the moment!“
The girls want to meet friends in the cinema at nine o’clock and want to watch a
horror film with them but Mrs Parker cannot drive the girls because Mr. Parker
must work this day and he has got the car.
Tina: “Yes, I’ll come, I’m feeding Sweetie first! She is very hungry and we will not
be here this evening! I’m ready now!“
Tina puts on her jacket and runs downstairs into the hall to the door, where
Sandra is waiting. Mrs Parker comes out of the kitchen.
Mrs Parker: “Do you have everything?“
Tina: “Yes, mum, of course.“
Sandra looks in her handbag.
Sandra: “Oh no! Where is my purse? My money for the cinema is in it! I cannot
find it! I must have forgotten it at home!“
Mrs Parker: “That doesn’t matter. Tina, can you lend her some money?“
Tina: “Of course but you must give me my money back tomorrow, Sandra!“
Sandra: “It is OK. You’ll get your money tomorrow.“
Mrs Parker: “You are late! You know, is it a long way!“
They go outside the house. It is a very bad weather and it is raining. It is very
cold.
Mrs Parker: “Be careful! The weather is very bad today!“
Tina only smiles at her and off they go. Everywhere it is wet and very cold. When
they turn left into a dark road, Sandra looks at her watch.
Sandra: “No! We only have five minutes! What do we do now? Tina looks at a
signpost on her left.
Tina: “It isn’t far anymore. We can run, no, we must run! Quickly!“
Sandra:“ We cannot see! It is a bad weather and it is raining, you know!“
Tina: “But we have not other way! Let us run!“
They begin to run. The rain is cold, the wind terrible and it is dark, then the night
comes. Suddenly, they stop.
Sandra: “Where is the way? It is gone! Let us go home, please and forget the
cinema!“
Tina smiles.
Tina: “Can you show me the way back? I don’t know where the right way is!
We’re lost!“
Sandra: “Oh no! What can we do now?“
Tina doesn’t answer. She looks at a field in front of her. Thick fog is coming from
the dark woods.
Tina: “Let’s go trough the woods. Perhaps it is a short-cut.“
Sandra: “Perhaps? Are you crazy? Let us ask someone!“
Tina: “Can you see anyone here? That’s the only way!“

Sandra doesn’t like the idea but she goes with Tina. In the woods is it very quiet
and eerie. Suddenly, they can see a ... what is it? Is it a tree? The girls slowly go
to this thing. Really, is it a tree, a sinister and big tree.
Sandra: “This tree makes me scared. Let’s go away!“
When they go away from the tree, they have the bad feeling , someone is
following them. They stop.
Tina: “Be quiet! Can you hear that?“
A very terrible noise is roaring through the woods. It seem to come nearer to the
girls.
Sandra: “Yes, I can hear it! Please, Let’s go! There is something eerie in this
strange forest !“
They can hear the noise again.
Tina: “Ok, Let’s run!“
They begin to run again but the unknown noise comes nearer and nearer.
Suddenly, Sandra and Tina can see the end of the woods and a road. When
they come to the road, the noise is gone but they are still afraid. Sandra laughs.
Sandra: “We are safe!’’
Tina takes her mobile phone out of her handbag.
Tina: “Hey, it is half past nine! What about the film?“
Sandra: “Forget the film! Can you call your mum? Your mum said, your dad was
coming back at nine o’clock!“
Tina talks to her mum and really, she can fetch them. When she comes, the two
friends must talk about the terrible adventure. At Tina’s home, Mrs Parker says:
“You have run a very long way! Four miles! WOW!“
Tina: “That isn’t WOW, mum! It was terrible!“
Sandra: “And this eerie noise…”
Mrs Parker: “Sandra, your mom will fetch you in one hour.“
Sandra: “Thanks, Mrs Parker. Tina, we must talk together tomorrow!“
When Sandra’s mum comes, Sandra and Tina say good bye together. But they
don’t know, who or what made this noise… Perhaps - was it imagination?

18. The last unicorn
There was a time, when unicorns lived in our word. This time was dark, cold and
bad for lots of people and of pets. Vampires and all kinds of pets and people
were in the woods. The sun was never shining and only the moon lightened the
word. The unicorns didn’t eat the plants, because plants where black.
(The unicorns are white and therefore they don’t like the colour black.)
They wanted to eat something, but they didn’t find anything.
Many unicorns died. Finally, there was only one unicorn left. It went up a hill and
down into a valley, but it didn’t stay there. On his travels, it saw a fire, ghosts and
lots of trees. Then it came to a lake. The last unicorn wanted to go swimming. It
was swimming in the middle of the sea when it saw a fish and it wanted to play
with it. The fish was very bad and it ate the unicorn.
This was the story of the unicorns.

19. The unknown person
It's a beautiful day. The sun is shining. Liam is walking into the woods with his
white dog Milly. They go on and on and the time passes. He walks and plays with
Milly. Suddenly he looks at his watch and cries: "Oh Milly, we are too late! One
hour too late!" But Liam can't find the way back home. He's afraid because it's so
quiet in the woods. The sun goes down, the night comes and Liam is standing
into the woods. Everywhere is fog. He can't see anything. He can't see his
footprints either. Liam and Milly are lost and so helpless. Then they are runnng
on a small way between lots of old trees. Milly is following Liam. Suddenly Liam
stops because he sees a fire in the dark. He waits a minute and slowly goes
towards the fire with Milly. A man is sitting next to the fire. He goes to the man
but the man looks a bit terrible. He's wearing a pair of broken glasses and black
clothes. He's got black hair, black nails, a black jacket, black shoes and black
jeans. Everything is black! Then Liam asks the man: "Hello! Can you help us find
the way back home? I can't find the way. My mum is worried at the moment.
Please, help us!" The man looks at him and then at Milly. He says: "Follow me,
boy. I can show you the way." But the man doesn't know where Liam lives. Liam
follows the man. Later he asks the man: "Who are you? Do you know where I
live? Why are you in the woods at this time?" But the man only answers: "Don't
ask me. I'll help you. That's enough. I know everything. But promise me, don't tell
anybody about me." They go up the hill and Liam sees his house. "My house is
there. I'm so happy. Come on, let's go to my house together." The man follows
Liam and Milly. At the door, the man is standing behind Liam. Liam's mother
opens the door, puts her arms around Liam and says: "Where are you coming
from? I went to the police. But now, you are here." Liam is turning back, but the
man isn't here. "A man showed me the way. I didn't find the way. He was behind
me. I don't understand it." "I can’t see anyone here. You're dreaming." But Liam
thinks: He was maybe a magician or a ghost. And he shouts with a loud voice:
"Thank you! I don't forget you!" And now, a black cat is jumping across the
road....

20. Strange sounds
It’s the end of a nice party. Liz and Sandra want to go home but both are in a big
hurry because they must run to the next bus stop and they are very late. When
Liz and Sandra arrive, the bus is leaving.
Sandra: "What can we do now?" Liz: "Hey, I know a shortcut. It's a way through
the forest." Sandra: "Don't you think, that it's too dark there now?" Liz: "Come on.
Don't be silly. The next bus is coming in two hours. Do you want to stay here and
wait?
Now Liz and Sandra walk through the dark woods. Suddenly they hear more and
more strange sounds.
Sandra: "Can you hear that?" Liz: "Yes, I hear it, but what is it and where does it
come from? I want to know it." Sandra: "Are you completely crazy? I still want to
go home! Liz: "Scaredy-cat! Okay, let's go."

But when Sandra and Liz go on, fog is coming up and the strange sounds are
noisy and nearer than before. Now, Liz stops.
Liz: "You're right. It's really creepy here." Sandra: "Perhaps is a murderer or even
... a monster!" Liz: "Okay, you watch too many horror films."
Suddenly they hear a very noisy sound.
Liz: "Okay, I think it's better when we go on. Okay?" Sandra: "I agree."
Then, Liz and Sandra go on, but gradually it seems, that somebody is following
them.
Sandra: "Isn't it better if we run?" Liz: "I think the same. Let us run away out of
the forest!"
And the two friends run like mad through the woods.
Liz: "Oh, look at this! It's the end of the way!" Sandra: "And it seems to be the
end of the forest too!"
And it is the end. Sandra and Liz are happy and out of breath.
Sandra: "It was a very dangerous and creepy way!" Liz: "And we are safe. But
you say I'm silly."
Suddenly the two hear a strange sound again, but not anywhere in the forest, but
behind a big tree near there.
Liz: "Okay, I think that we had better go home now." Sandra: "I agree to go home
too."
Now Liz and Sandra go on, but the strange sounds in the forest remain and
nobody knows, what it is...

21. The nice girl
Once upon a time, there were two friends. One day they were walking through
the woods, but suddenly a person comes towards the friends. It's a nice girl with
a black raincoat. She says to the friends: “Leave the woods. Here it's dangerous.“
But the friends don't believe her and they go on. Later, they see a house with an
open door and they go into the house. There's a big boiler in the house. It
belongs to an old witch... When they see this, they run out of the house and then
they go home.
The nice girl was a good witch. She wanted to protect the two friends...
