Pong is a plein air painter of the California coastline. His work captures<br />
many moods and colors of the sea, beaches, coastal highways and landmarks.<br />
Join Pong in this fun workshop to experiment with new techniques;<br />
learn to incorporate creative color and mood into your artwork and<br />
further develop the fundamental skills that lead to successful painting while<br />
working from photographs and sketches.<br />

One day hands-on sculpting workshop in the medium of paper clay. Make<br />
seamless teapots using dowels. Carve and sculpt realistic wood-grain and<br />
tree-like features. Learn how to create functional vs. ornamental teapots<br />
making a teapot that pours without dripping. Explore the use of oxide stain<br />
to create wood-like finishes. Demonstrations and one-on-one instruction.<br />
Specialized paper clay tools and dowels are used in the workshop. Tools will<br />
be available for students to borrow during the workshop; tools and paper<br />
clay will also be available for purchase.<br />

Expand your creative limits as you learn new and experimental ways of expressing<br />
yourself with water based acrylic paints and experimental techniques.<br />
Emphasis will be acrylic layering and using paint as a transparent<br />
translucent and opaque water medium. Continual demonstrations on how<br />
to achieve line, depth and texture using resist, lifting, staining, printing and<br />
scraping techniques. Collage, gesso and gel mediums, transfers and stamping<br />
are some of the techniques to experiment with. Finishing techniques<br />
will be introduced and demonstrated. The focus is abstract; however, combining<br />
abstract with realistic elements is an option. Individual attention<br />
and private critique time. Each student will receive a three-ring, forty-two<br />
page booklet of handouts containing in-depth information on class demos,<br />
design, color, inspirational quotes, finishing suggestions, supply sources<br />
and much more. Goal is to inspire confidence and leave you fired up and<br />
