Chapter 1 System Setup Chapter 1 SYSTEM SETUP Configuring Your Browser’s Security ActiveX Aphelion's ASP program uses ActiveX technology. ActiveX is a set of technologies created by Microsoft to enable interactive content on Web sites. ActiveX components do introduce some security risk however, because they can cause destructive programs to be automatically downloaded and run on your computer. For this reason, Microsoft's Internet Explorer restricts the downloading and running of ActiveX components. Internet Explorer gives you the option of designating "trusted" Web sites from which you can download and run these components. Trusted Sites You can selectively add the web sites that you trust to download and run components on your computer. You must add the Aphelion ASP Web site to this list of trusted sites before you can successfully operate the program. Only the Web sites you add to the Trusted Sites will have these privileges. Adding the Aphelion Web site to this list WILL NOT CHANGE YOUR SECURITY SETTINGS FOR ANY OTHER WEB SITE. You will still be fully protected from malicious ActiveX components when browsing the web. Check Your Browser Version For reliable performance, you must use Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 5.5 or later. To find out what version of Internet Explorer you are running open your web browser and follow the steps below. You can download the latest version of Internet Explorer at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads. 1
