RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Beaufort Primary is non-denominational. R.E. and school assemblies are taught in
accordance with Derby City ‘Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education’. Parents who
wish their child to withdraw from assemblies and/or R.E. lessons are asked to contact
the Headteacher.
HEALTH AND DRUGS EDUCATION
An age appropriate Health and Drugs Education programme is taught throughout the
school as part of the PSHE and Science Curriculum. In the final years of school part of
this programme introduces the children to sex education. Parents/Carers may request
to view the materials that are used and have the right to withdraw their children from
these lessons.
SPECIAL EDUCATION NEEDS
We are an inclusive School and children with special needs are mainly taught in the
classroom alongside their peers. The School follows the Derby City Policy for
identifying and monitoring special needs. Parents/Carers are encouraged to discuss
their child’s Individual Education Plan with staff in School.
For some children specialist teaching will be required to meet their individual needs.
Where specialist programmes are required staff will consult outside agencies. As with
all matters regarding your child if you feel your child has special needs please discuss
this with their class teacher. This will then be referred to our Special Needs Coordinators
in School.
