a statement at the session for intergovernmental organizations and the OPEC Secretariat hosted daily
co-ordination meetings for Member Countries. It was important that the Delhi Declaration avoided calling
for a dialogue to broaden commitments from developing countries to limit greenhouse gas emissions.
Instead, it reaffirms development and poverty eradication as overriding priorities in developing countries
and the implementation of UNFCCC commitments under the principle of “common but differentiated
responsibilities”.
As a run-up to the Summit and the COP8, the OPEC Secretariat organized the 3 rd Informal Brainstorming
session at the Secretariat.
