Countdown is a founding member of the New Zealand Business
Leaders Health and Safety Forum. The forum was officially launched
by the Prime Minister in 2010 and is a business-led initiative
to improve the safety culture of New Zealand.
In 2011 we achieved a 40% improvement in lost time injuries
compared to the previous year.
Countdown offers all employees and their immediate families
access to an Employee Assistance Programme that includes free
and confidential counselling services. This was especially valuable
in the wake of the Christchurch earthquakes. We were able to provide
counselling and sufficient time off to all team members who needed it.
