<strong>Sport</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Newcastle</strong><br />
<strong>Sport</strong> is important <strong>at</strong> <strong>Newcastle</strong>, and performance, particip<strong>at</strong>ion and<br />
health and wellbeing are part of everything we do. We have an extensive<br />
portfolio of sports facilities, a wide range of sports programmes, and over<br />
50 sports clubs, all supported by a team of dedic<strong>at</strong>ed professional staff.<br />
The <strong>University</strong> recently finished ninth in the British Universities <strong>Sport</strong>s<br />
Associ<strong>at</strong>ion (BUSA) 2006–07 rankings, with outstanding performances<br />
by our rowing, rugby and lacrosse clubs.<br />
In the region, £1.2 billion is being spent over the next five years, aiming<br />
to have <strong>at</strong> least 10 major sporting events in the North East by 2010.<br />
So however serious you are about sport, there’ll be something<br />
to suit you <strong>at</strong> <strong>Newcastle</strong>.<br />
