NIKKO AM SHENTON GLOBAL PROPERTY SECURITIES FUND (Constituted under a Trust Deed registered in the Republic of Singapore) NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS For the financial year ended 30 June 2013 These notes form an integral part of and should be read in conjunction with the accompanying financial statements. 1. General Nikko AM Shenton Global Property Securities Fund (the "Fund") is a Singapore domiciled fund, constituted as a sub fund of the Nikko AM Asia Investment Funds, pursuant to the Trust Deed dated 8 March 2000 as amended by Supplemental Deeds and Amended and Restated Deeds (collectively referred to as the “Deeds”). The Deeds are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore. As of 1 June 2013, the Trustee of the Fund has changed to BNP Paribas Trust Services Singapore Limited (the "Trustee"). The Manager of the Fund is Nikko Asset Management Asia Limited. As of 30 June 2013, Nikko AM Asia Investment Funds comprise seven separate and distinct sub-funds, namely Nikko AM Shenton Asia Dividend Equity Fund (formerly known as Nikko AM Shenton Asia Knowledge Fund), Nikko AM Shenton Global Property Securities Fund, Nikko AM Shenton Asia Bond Fund, POSB InvestSteady Fund, MyHome Fund – Home Steady, MyHome Fund – Home Balanced and My Home Fund – Home Growth. Only the financial statements of Nikko AM Shenton Property Securities Fund is presented in this report. The sole shareholder of the Manager, DBS Bank Ltd, had on 30 September 2011 completed a sale and purchase agreement with Nikko Asset Management International Limited and Nikko Asset Management Co., Ltd; pursuant to which DBS Bank Ltd had sold and Nikko Asset Management International Limited had acquired all the ordinary shares in DBS Asset Management Ltd (the “Share Acquisition”). Pursuant to the Share Acquisition, DBS Asset Management Ltd has been renamed as Nikko Asset Management Asia Limited (the” Manager”) and the Fund renamed as Nikko AM Shenton Global Property Securities with effect from 17 October 2011. 2. Significant accounting policies The principal accounting policies applied in the preparation of these financial statements are set out below: (a) Basis of preparation The financial statements have been prepared under the historical-cost convention, as modified by the revaluation of financial assets held at fair value through profit or loss. 20
