A Message to the Community
The first moments of new parenthood are some of the most
memorable. At Meridian Health, we strive to provide new
families with a comfortable experience and the best care.
Complications during pregnancy can arise without warning,
which makes the choice of where to give birth an important
one. In this issue, you’ll read about some remarkable births at our
hospitals. Christine Quigley found herself facing a life-threatening
emergency. Tascha Krapf embarked on a pregnancy while
managing type 1 diabetes. Kristine Zellman’s complicated medical
history made her third pregnancy high risk. All of them received
expert care while delivering beautiful, healthy babies.
This fall also brings a focus on the seniors in our communities.
Meridian Health and Geisinger Health Plan have partnered
to bring Geisinger Gold — a provider-sponsored Medicare
Advantage product that is ranked as number six in the country
— to seniors in Monmouth and Ocean counties. Seniors will
now have access to a high-quality, cost-effective option for
Medicare coverage that’s not currently available in this region,
including better management of chronic conditions, better
health care outcomes, and better access to covered services.
The product was introduced in the fall, with plan benefits
becoming effective January 2013.
