Targeting low incomes families who qualify for Earned Income Tax Credit Make sure to bring the following documents with you to the tax site: - All W-2’s and 1099s (if any) - Social Security Cards or Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN) for all family members - Copy of 2005 tax return, if available - Bank Account Number and Routing Number, if choosing to direct deposit your refund - Valid Photo ID For information on other locations in Illinois, please call (312) 630-0273 or TTY (312)701- 1326, or visit our website at www.centerforprogress.org. The Center for Economic Progress has been providing free tax preparation services for low-income individuals and families since 1994, and has returned over $196 million in federal and state refunds to Chicago and other Illinois communities. Committee meetings the 2 nd Friday of the month at 9:00 a.m. at Macomb City Hall. The Interagency Council accepted Debbie Vandemark’s offer to be on the committee. She will need to run it past the Volunteer NOW Board and get back to the Interagency Council on accepting the position on the committee. Early Beginnings/ROE #26 Parent Program newsletter available Dental Health Committee Melinda Whiteman – Rural Health Center of Henderson County - medical and dental services to people of all ages regardless of their ability to pay - Medicaid, no insurance and private insurance - major gap in oral services here in McDonough County - Signed contract with a dentist (young graduate from the University of Iowa) - Grant funds were received to expand services to McDonough County - This May will be the opening - Negotiations are underway for space - Full-time Hygienist, two assistance and billing staff - April 28 th Scavenger Hunt fund raiser for Dental Clinic - 4000 residents in McDonough County on Medicaid who can not receive dental services in this area - Senator John Sullivan visited clinic in Henderson County o Was able to get money to expand services - Received some donated equipment from area dentists North Central Behavioral Health Systems Maggie Brooks: mbrooks@ncbhs.org Kim Laird: klaird@ncbhs.org Spoon River College GED preparatory classes and ESL have begun. We offer morning, afternoon and evening courses. If anyone has a group that they would like for me to talk to about our classes, resources and instructors, I would like to promote our classes! Preschool for All Grant/Regional Office of Education The Regional Office of Education recently received the Preschool for All Grant through the Illinois Board of Education Early Childhood Block Grant.
