Autumn 2009
After a hugely popular first event in 2008, Darlington
Food Festival is back for 2009 with a gastronomic
programme to delight true foodies. Pass the time
watching cooking demonstrations, browsing stalls
of fine local produce and rubbing shoulders with
top celebrity chefs from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th
October.
As the nights draw in and frostiness bites in the
air, wrap up warm and experience Odin’s Glow
at Roseberry Topping. The striking landscape
surrounding the hill will be lit up to dramatic effect
for a series of magical nights from Thursday 22nd to
Sunday 25th October. The hill’s name is a translation
of Odin’s-Beorge (Odin’s Hill) - a title given to the
area by the Vikings, in honour of Norse God Odin.
During the festival, visitors will be led on a mythical
journey, encountering fantastical creatures and
enjoying thrilling entertainment along the way.
The creatures will be a little more scary and there’ll
be a few ghouls too at Halloween this year, as
Spoo-Quay returns to Hartlepool’s Maritime
Experience - get your tickets quick, they always
go fast.
As we approach Christmas, those on the hunt
for a pinch of seasonal luxury will be returning to
Wynyard Hall for the second glittering Living North
Christmas Fair. Held over three days from 13th
November, the fair is your chance to buy elegant last
minute gifts and relax in the stunning surroundings
of a 13th century estate.
