CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK The Weather Could Not Stop the Support: B98.5 Champions for Children Radiothon a Success The sixth annual Radiothon, which was delayed for half a day due to an Arkansas snowstorm, pushed the total amount raised for ACH over six years to more than $1.2 million. No amount of snow or ice could keep people from supporting the B98.5 Champions for Children Radiothon held in February. The sixth annual event raised a significant amount for the patients and families who visit Arkansas Children’s Hospital, bringing the total raised over six years to more than $1.2 million. The Radiothon, which was held over three days, began six hours later than scheduled due to the weather. People from all over the state and region called in and pledged their support. Several Citadel Broadcasting Company stations broadcasted live from the ACH lobby during the Radiothon, including Alice 107.7, Power 92, KOKY, the Praise Network and KARN 920. Proceeds from the Radiothon come from pledges, sponsorships and Change Angels, a group of individuals and organizations who collected donations of change. The Change Angels program had more than 200 active participants this year. The 2010 B98.5 Champions for Children Radiothon was presented by Wendy’s. Other key sponsors include Landers Toyota, Cricket, Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas and Crye-Leike Realtors. A young donor delivers his bag of change to be donated to the hospital. Through the Change Angels program, more than 200 individuals and businesses collected change from friends, family and co-workers. CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK Children’s Miracle Network Announces 2009 Fundraising Totals CMN Roundup Arkansas Children’s Hospital is a proud member of Children’s Miracle Network, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids by raising funds for 170 children’s hospitals across North America. Children’s Miracle Network funds raised in Arkansas, north Louisiana, eastern Texas and eastern Oklahoma benefit ACH. Children’s Miracle Network national sponsors raise money at the local level with fundraising activities led by employees and supported by members of the community. The grassroots efforts add up quickly and, in 2009, resulted in a total donation of more than $2.9 million. These sponsors are key in helping the hospital provide care, love and hope to every child, every day. For the 2009 Children’s Miracle Network fundraising campaign supporting Arkansas Children’s Hospital, we thank the following national sponsors: Walmart and Sam’s Club Log A Load For Kids B98.5 Champions for Children Radiothon Credit Unions for Kids Fred’s Inc. La Pantera 1440 AM “Milagros Para la Vida” Radiothon RE/MAX International At Credit Unions for Kids Day in January, credit unions were honored and recognized for their fundraising efforts. At the event, employees of Arkansas Federal Credit Union (AFCU) celebrated their recent $89,634 gift to the hospital. AFCU employees and members raised money for the donation, which will help fund the waiting area in the ear, nose and throat clinic in the new South Wing, through several fundraising events. Since 1998, AFCU has contributed more than $500,000 to ACH. IHOP National Pancake Day, held in February, raised more than $25,000 for ACH. A number of IHOP locations in Arkansas participated, including Benton, Bryant, Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway, Searcy, Rogers, Fayetteville, Hot Springs and Russellville. RE/MAX of Conway hosted the sixth annual Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament in March. More than $27,000 was raised through the event. In March, representatives from Log A Load of Arkansas visited ACH for the group’s annual fundraising campaign kick-off. The Log A Load volunteers toured the hospital and helipad and learned more about the new ACH trauma center, which will open in 2012 in the South Wing.All funds raised through Log A Load over the next several years will helpfund the trauma center. ACH will have the only pediatric trauma center in the state, thanks to support from Log A Load. 19
