The MES Destination ImagiNation team<br />

applied the 7 Habits well by creating a<br />

performance that met the challenge! We are<br />

very proud! They placed 3 rd at the Regional<br />

Tournament and will now advance to the<br />

State Tournament. The members of the<br />

team are Brandon B., Jakob N., David D.,<br />

Sydney M., and Trinity T. Cindy<br />

Thompson is the MES DI coordinator, and<br />

Stacey Burruss is the parent Team<br />

Manager. Way to go Hawks!<br />

The MES choir traveled to Athens State University to show off their singing voices at the Leader in Me<br />

Symposium on February 7, 2014. The MES choir is made up of students in all grade levels and is led by<br />

Kindergarten teacher Joanne Bielat.<br />

The last Friday of each month, the MES Student<br />

Lighthouse Committee sponsors, “Hats on for<br />

Cancer.” Students are allowed to bring $1 and wear<br />

their favorite hat to school; all funds are donated to<br />

the cancer foundation. The Student Lighthouse<br />

Committee also sponsored “Pasta for Pennies”<br />

benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.<br />

Over $2000 was donated to help children with<br />

cancer. The class that raised the most money will<br />

be treated to a wonderful pasta lunch.<br />

Leaders help others and the MES National Honor<br />

Society is helping fight muscular dystrophy by<br />

selling Shamrocks against Dystrophy. MES<br />

students are raising funds to honor David D., a fourth grade student that has muscular dystrophy.
