Sparkman 9’s annual TAP Conferences were held
during the 2-week period of March 3-14. Several
hours of preparation contributed to the success of the
conferences. During this time, students and parents
were able to sit down with a teacher and discuss and
decide on the appropriate courses for next year’s
schedule. This was a prime opportunity to evaluate
and ensure success for the student’s individual
educational plan for the next three years in high
school. Around 481 conferences with parent and
students present were held and about 196 conferences
with just the student took place.

Andrew Orames - 3 rd Place in SAR Poster Contest - Andrew
Orames, 5 th grade student, received 3 rd place in the Sons of the
American Revolution (SAR) poster contest. On February 21 st ,
reenactors from the Tennessee Valley Chapter of SAR visited Andrew
and the entire 5 th grade class. They presented a brief history of the
Revolutionary War with hands-on artifacts. Andrew also received a
certificate, a copy of the Declaration of Independence, a SAR Good
Citizenship Medal, and a $50 check in a ceremony in January.
