3.3. The Non-Functional Requirements Framework 17 requirements for a credit card system, but the actual requirements are not the focus. The focus instead lies on the graph and how it is composed. Notable in the graph is the exclamation mark that has not been introduced before. This is simply a way to represent a prioritized softgoal. As can be seen in the figure, this is done by adding a child with the same type and topic as the parent and with the notation “{critical}” at the end. The claim in the graph is aimed at a link and thus acts as an argument for why the refinement (the prioritization in this case) is made. As such it is not an offspring to a softgoal, although claims can be this too, but rather an offspring of the interdependency itself. At the bottom of the graph are some operationalizing softgoals where the “FlexibleUserInterface” seems to support denying of the prioritized softgoal “Accuracy[GoldAccount.highSpending]” while the other operationalizing softgoals seem to support satisficing of the parent. A AND-contribution is shown at the top of the graph showing how the NFR softgoal “Accuracy[Account]” has been decomposed into “Accuracy[GoldAccount]” and “Accuracy[RegularAccount]”. This shows that both gold accounts and regular accounts have to be accurate if accounts in general are to be considered accurate. Figure 3.6: Softgoal interdependencies graph.
