Successful application with the Royalties for<br />

Regions funding, through the Wheatbelt<br />

Development Commission.<br />

Voices of the Wheatbelt publication:<br />

Lt. John Sanderson accepted invitation to<br />

write foreword for the publication.<br />

Dr Carmen Lawrence launches<br />

publication at Kidogo Art House in<br />

June. Attended by over 150 community<br />

members and sector representatives.<br />

880 copies distributed to participants,<br />

regional communities, all local libraries<br />

in the state, national and state sector<br />

representatives, project partners and<br />

relevant members of parliament.<br />

Developed an MOU with the Avon<br />

Catchment Council in regards to Indigenous<br />

arts and cultural development and natural<br />

resource management in the Wheatbelt.<br />

Developed an MOU with the Shire of<br />

Narrogin and the Town of Narrogin for the<br />

partnerships regarding the two Southern<br />

Wheatbelt trainees.<br />

Southern Wheatbelt project – close liaison<br />

with:<br />

Department of Indigenous Affairs<br />

regarding the Southern Wheatbelt<br />

project.<br />

Health, education, TAFE, schools and<br />

police regarding Indigenous projects in<br />

this region.<br />

Action: Contribute to AusCAN and NACA<br />

activities and development.<br />

Met in September for Generations<br />

Conference in Melbourne. AusCAN<br />

meetings and networking breakfast.<br />

NACA thinktank in Canberra as only WA<br />

representative.<br />

Action: Contribute to the WA <strong>Arts</strong> Federation<br />

activities and development.<br />

Application to Country <strong>Arts</strong> WA’s regional<br />

fund for an Indigenous youth arts and<br />

cultural position in the Southern Wheatbelt:<br />

unsuccessful.<br />

<strong>Arts</strong> and Cultural Development Manager<br />

met with Youth <strong>Arts</strong> counterpart to<br />

investigate possible collaborative projects.<br />

Action: Develop international connections to<br />

progress local understanding of Agenda 21 for<br />

culture in local government.<br />

Actual <strong>2009</strong>:<br />

Information on Agenda 21 for Culture<br />

distributed to Cultural Development Officers<br />

following the Cultural Development Forum<br />

held on 11 February at the City of South<br />

Perth.<br />

Action: Undertake sector consultation to<br />

provide effective representation.<br />

Actual <strong>2009</strong>:<br />

Christopher Sonn from Victoria University,<br />

conducted a detailed evaluation of the<br />

Voices of the Wheatbelt project, phase 1.<br />

Dave Palmer from Murdoch University,<br />

conducted a detailed evaluation of the<br />

Coolgardie Water Dreaming / Rock Hole<br />

Long Pipe project.<br />

Catalyst <strong>2009</strong>/10 bulletin reported on arts<br />

funding trends.<br />

<strong>Arts</strong>Law consultation in regards to copyright<br />

and Working with Children policy.<br />

Consultations held with community leaders,<br />

Elders, local government, schools and health<br />

sectors in Wagin and Narrogin in regards to<br />

Voices of the Wheabelt project.<br />

Regional Roundtables attended 4 times in<br />

<strong>2009</strong>.<br />

Operations Manager attended regional arts<br />

think tank sessions.<br />

CAN WA consulting with the Cultural<br />

Development Forum <strong>Network</strong> of Local<br />

Government <strong>Community</strong> and Cultural<br />

Development workers in regards to their<br />

professional development needs and<br />

aspirations.
