(ISC) 2 MEMBER NEWS (ISC)² Hires First ISO ILLUSTRATION BY YEWKEO ( I S C ) ² R E C E N T LY made Christopher Trautwein, CISSP, CISM, its first information security officer. Previously, Trautwein was an IT consultant for (ISC)² and played an integral role in the organization’s customer relationship management project. In his new role, he is responsible for the protection of all of (ISC)²’s data privacy and security policies. Trautwein has more than 14 years of experience in information security. Before joining (ISC)², he served as a director for Sunera LLC in its Information Security and Network Services consulting practice, and as senior security engineer for Check Point Software Technologies and RISCmanagement. A Presidential Appointment ( I S C ) 2 I S P R O U D to announce that one of its board members, Prof. Howard A. Schmidt, CISSP, CSSLP, Fellow of (ISC)2, has been named the U.S. White House Cybersecurity Coordinator. Schmidt, who has served on (ISC)2’s board since 2004 and was vice chairperson of the board in 2009, will oversee cybersecurity activities across the U.S. government. “Howard will have regular access to the President and serve as a key member of his National Security Staff,” said John Brennan, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, in a statement. “He will also work closely with his economic team to ensure that our cybersecurity efforts keep the Nation secure and prosperous.” “(ISC)2 has worked together with Howard on many important global and national information security workforce initiatives throughout the years and has always valued his insight and counsel,” said W.
