virgin territory. Bordering Cangas
de Narcea, the Somiedo district
boasts the Somiedo Nature Reserve,
an extensive swathe of woodland
and lakes. The Park Reception
Centre (* 98 576 37 58) is in Pola
de Somiedo. For those who wish to
be in closer contact with Nature, in
the neighbouring districts of
Teverga, Santo Adriano and Proaza
an abandoned railway track has
been converted into a cycling route
dubbed the ‘‘Bear Trail’’.
