In most cities across the country, the
only locally owned major media outlets
left are the public broadcasting stations.
What suffers because of this? It’s local
journalism. You need to get in-depth
information about your community—
both its history and its current issues.
That’s why we’re announcing the
creation of the KVIE Fund for Local
Journalism. The funds we raise will not
only preserve but also strengthen the programs we produce
for you, programs about flood protection, our culture, the
housing crisis, local farming—all issues that affect us here.
More investigation, more celebration of our community,
more viewpoints. They’ll all be made possible through the
fund. Visit kvie.org/flj to learn more.
Stay tuned!
“I’ve seen Charlie Rose on CBS in the morning. Is he
leaving PBS?” – Andrea, Davis
In January, Charlie became co-anchor for CBS This
Morning, yet he continues to host Charlie Rose on PBS,
now in its 20th year. His PBS program airs on KVIE at
midnight on weekdays, and at 9pm on KVIE2. When adding
the new CBS duties, Charlie assured the public television
community, “PBS is my home and will always be my home.”
with Huell Howser
San Francisco is a city of many distinctions, but few are
as intriguing as the history of its cemeteries. Join Huell
Howser to discover the sacred grounds that still exist
today. Then tour the city’s salt stacks and the ghost town
island of Drawbridge, before investigating why two historic locations are now missing
(3/1). Uncover the most unusual location to find wildflowers: the parched Death Valley
National Park (pictured) where a rare rainfall in the region produced a bounty of
