ADVANCED SUNCARE THROUGH ENZYME TECHNOLOGY
ATEIA® AFTERSUN SUNCARE PLUS REPAIR
4% Nopasomes®
DNA-repair enzymes plus Nopal cactus
Face & Body Emulsion
Normal to Sensitive Skin
Sun and UV light
The sun has many beneficial effects but it can also damage the skin. Some of the UV
radiation in sunlight can penetrate deep into the skin, where it can damage the genetic
information (DNA) in the cell nuclei of skin cells.
Human skin does have a natural repair mechanism, but the body’s repair system is less
effective at repairing UV skin damage in strong sunlight or when one is older. This can lead
to chronic light damage in the deeper layers of the skin, or may become visible as premature
ageing of the skin (wrinkles).
DNA-repair enzymes
DNA-repair enzymes are DNA-binding proteins that function as the body’s intrinsic repair
mechanism in the nuclei of skin cells.
This technique has been copied from nature by an international team of dermatologists
engaged in a research project aimed at developing an innovative sunscreen. As a ‘model’,
the researchers used microbes that have been exposed for thousands of years to very high
levels of UV radiation and have very efficient repair mechanisms.
Why Nopasomes®
All ATEIA®’s sunscreen and suncare products contain a combination of two DNA-repair
enzymes with different actions in the form of liposomes (Photosomes, Ultrasomes) and a
botanical extract of Nopal cactus (Nopasomes®).
This unique combination of active ingredients* supports the body’s own skin cell repair
mechanisms after sunbathing, and prevents premature ageing or damage of the skin by UV
Radiation.
Photosomes activate the repair mechanisms of the skin in daylight and Ultrasomes do the
same at night (24 hour action).
Photosomes and Ultrasomes are in the form of liposomes and can therefore penetrate into
deeper layers of the skin. The Nopal cactus can soothe and prevent skin irritation due to its
high polysaccharide content. The preventive effects of the sunscreen are optimised with
Nopasomes®, which also help to give you a natural, darker tan.
Application
After sunbathing, take a shower and apply emulsion liberally to the cleansed skin of the face
and body.
