Long-time <strong>KWVA</strong> member (24 years)<br />

Tom Carberry recently received a major<br />

league umpires’ jacket in recognition of<br />

his 3,000 hours of volunteer<br />

service at the VA<br />

Medical Center in Palm<br />

Beach, FL. All of his<br />

hours are credited to the <strong>KWVA</strong>.<br />

Dean Bunn<br />

Dean Bunn, of Minneapolis, MN, was<br />

featured in a newspaper article a while<br />

back. The article focused on his career as<br />

a magician. Bunn was in Korea in 1951-<br />

52, around the 38th Parallel, close to<br />

Chunchon. He was also on Heartbreak<br />

Ridge for a time<br />

Bunn was a rifleman and B.A.R. man<br />

with E Co., 31st Inf. Regt., 7th Div, aka<br />

“The Polar Bear” outfit.<br />

As the article pointed out:<br />

Military service during the <strong>Korean</strong> <strong>War</strong><br />

and then as a USO entertainer has<br />

taken Bunn to various parts of the<br />

world….Although magic has provided<br />

extra income, Bunn built a career with<br />

Minnesota Rubber Company in St.<br />

Louis Park [MN].<br />
