Become a career coach. <strong>LaGuardia</strong> is offering a Career Coach Certificate Program for those with some or no experience in<br />

Fundamentals of Counseling<br />

and Coaching Skills<br />

Review and practice basic skills and techniques<br />

necessary for effective career coaching in this introductory<br />

course. <strong>You</strong> will discuss differences and similarities<br />

between coaching and counseling; intake interview<br />

techniques; coaching groups vs. individuals, and career<br />

coaching models and sample assessment. <strong>You</strong>’ll also<br />

have the opportunity to practice what you’ve learned in<br />

class through role play and small group activities. (This<br />

course is a prerequisite to all other program courses.<br />

Explore effective career interest, skills and preference<br />

inventories that are used by career coaches in private<br />

practice and organizational settings. <strong>You</strong> will complete<br />

and interpret several inventories and other assessment<br />

material, and learn how to apply these to specific client<br />

populations. Prerequisite or co requisite: Fundamentals<br />

of Counseling and Coaching Skills.<br />

exercises, and best practices from guest speakers.<br />

preferences. <strong>You</strong> will be encouraged to establish career,<br />

job and/or educational plans and establish short term and<br />

long term goals as part of your action plan. An interest<br />

Enrique Garcia Bejar has taken his education and many<br />

years of career counseling/coaching experience, and<br />

put them all into the new Career Development<br />

Institute at <strong>LaGuardia</strong>. <strong>The</strong> Institute offers two<br />

programs: a career coaching certificate program for<br />

professionals already working or interested in working<br />

in the field, and career development seminars for<br />

anyone looking to change jobs or begin a career.<br />

certification in several Career and Psychological<br />

Assessments; and experience in organizations<br />

including <strong>LaGuardia</strong>’s Adult Career Counseling and<br />

Resource Center (currently, the Career Development<br />

Center) and through his own company, Bejar<br />

Consulting Group LLC, which provides executive and<br />

career coaching to organization/corporate clients in the<br />

U.S. and abroad, the Career Development Institute is in<br />

good hands.<br />
