NATURE STRENGTHENS OUR FUTURE
Susan Kabiwa-Nturama
Nkonkwa, Tanzania
“I was the seventh of nine children. Life with my parents was hard, so I
didn’t go to school very long. My husband and I have six children, and it
would be good not to have more babies. Here, there are too many people
and too few natural resources. I want my children to have a better life. I
want my daughters to have an education. Education can change a life.”
The Nature Conservancy and partners Pathfinder International and Frankfurt Zoological
Society are uniting conservation with initiatives to strengthen local governance, improve
access to social services and create sustainable livelihoods. The Tuungane project is
expressly designed to bring together reproductive-health and conservation interventions
for integrated solutions that address the pressures on people and nature.
