Whether cooking our food, heating our homes
or powering up the computers that run so many
aspects of modern society, energy derived from
natural resources is crucial to our lives and
cultures. But the extraction of natural resources
and siting of facilities can disrupt wildlife habitat
and people’s livelihoods. Science can guide us to
avoid such disruptions if industry, communities,
governments and nonprofits can come to the
table in advance to develop workable solutions.
