Cheshire acf a less than average number of attendees at sick parade. During our stay we were privileged to welcome VIP guests, Col Gerry Wells-Cole, Col Davies, The Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire and Honorary Colonel of the Cheshire Army Cadet Force Mr David Briggs, as well as the Mayors from Cheshire East, Councillor Roger West, Cheshire West, Councillor Eleanor Johnson, Runcorn, Councillor Keith Morley and Warrington, Councillor Mike Biggin. Of course this camp was different for another reason, a new management team from the Commandant down who showed that they are not afraid to get their feet wet, literally. With the Commandant Col Ian Holmes and RSM Boulton leading a group across the obstacle course, to the Lord Lieutenant David Briggs and Deputy Commandant Alan O’Flanaghan showing some panache on the dry ski slope it looks like Cheshire ACF has Competition at the clay target shoot between County RSM and Cadet CSM watched by Captain Binks discovered a new dynamism. Three hundred cadets attended camp. Three hundred returned, richer for the experience and a step closer to taking their place within society. Cadets, Adult Instructors and Officers of D Coy, Cheshire ACF were on hand for two days to give much needed support at the Hell Runner races in Delamere Forest, a demonic 11 miles of undulating terrain with its own series of swamps and bogs. From checking bags, staffing water stations, giving out goody bags to awarding medals it was a full on job with 900 competitors taking part. It was also a great opportunity to take the recruitment trailer and answer questions from a number of interested parents and young people. Sgt Matt King-Smith from Macclesfield Detachment B Coy (CACF) took part as a competitor and returned a credible time of 2 hours. 42 the volunteer www.nwrfca.org.uk
SCC Rowing success for cadets Huyton with Roby Sea Cadets have enjoyed more success on the water. Following their North West area regatta success the rowing squad including Open Boys, Open Girls, Junior Boys and Junior Girls, travelled to London Excel centre to compete against teams from around the UK. The competition was of a high standard and Huyton saw the Open Girls finish fourth overall with three other teams gaining bronze medals.
