Inspection Tour of OG & P’s South East Gas Pipeline
As the 128km South East
gas pipeline project
reaches its critical
engineering stage of crossing
rivers, swamps and challenging
forest terrain clearing, the
Management of Oando Gas and
Power – OG&P (project sponsor)
Nigerian Gas Company (OG&P
project partners), Oilserv
(contractors) and United Cement
Company – UNICEM (project
beneficiary) embarked on a joint
inspection of the project sites.
The inspection took place at the
Cross River boundary of the
project.
The 128km project takes off from
Akwa Ibom state all the way to
Cross River state, crossing major
rivers, swamps, rocks and
mountainous forests. The Cross
river boundary features most of
these tough topographies.
The team visited the cleared
forest sites, the rocky and hilly
terrains, the swamps, the location
for the Calabar river crossing
and the stack yards for pipes and
other equipment. The tour gave
UNICEM the opportunity of a first
hand experience of the rough
terrain the pipeline project is
routed with the representative
commending the OG&P and
Oilserv for building the capacity
for such audacious task.

100 under-privileged children
under a scholarship scheme,
which aids the children’s
parents to provide quality
education in privately-run
schools. They were chosen
along the company’s 100km
gas pipeline route in Lagos.
In demonstration of its
commitment to the quality of
care the children enjoy under
the scheme, OG&P has
continually monitored the
education performance of the
beneficiaries. In the same vein,
the company also gets involves
in the soft aspects of the
children’s lives. On May 11, 2009,
it took the 100 children to A&P
Foods, the makers of Hansbro
Biscuits and other brand of
confectioneries. A&P Foods is
one the over 80 customers
enjoying the supply of cheap,
safe and clean natural gas from
Oando’s Gaslink.
