Even before the Senkakus incident,
there has been an effort made
within the Japanese Diet to relax
some of their laws, he said. He
observed that Japan recognizes that
self defence is aimed at allowing
Japan to be a little more proactive
within the region, he noted. Even
US position on Japan’s moves to
relax its laws would be that this is a
decision for the Japanese to make.
