variety of questions currently
A surround the health care field:
• Will I get the care I need?
• What does reform mean to me?
• Where should I turn for care?
Even with this uncertainty, you can
count on Olympic Medical Center’s
commitment to provide residents
of the North Olympic Peninsula with
high-quality medical care as steadfast
as ever.
As we continue this effort, we must
address three factors – an uncertain
economy, the Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (health care
reform) and electronic medical record
(EMR) requirements. Together, these
represent game-changing forces for
Olympic Medical and the health care
industry as a whole.
In the coming year, Olympic
Medical plans to address these three
will allow us to expand local services
and seamlessly refer patients for
services not performed at the local level. We’re also reviewing EMR
options and working to select the most appropriate and effective
system possible. These steps, along with efforts to increase quality
and reduce waste using Lean process improvement, will help us work
to achieve Medicare Accountable Care Organization status by 2014,
which will help us better manage Medicare reimbursements.
The generous support we received through the OMC Foundation
in 2010 is amazing. We greatly appreciate the work of volunteers
and the funds raised through a variety of special events. For more
information about just how important your support has been, see
pages 8 and 9 for a look back at the Foundation’s astounding success
in 2010.
As we move further into 2011, we look forward to being
your trusted health care provider of choice for years to come. No
matter what questions arise, one answer will always be the same –
yes, we’re committed to being here for your future health care needs.
