Conservation Education Sponsorship Programme (CESP):<br />
Panda Action!<br />
We recognise the need to sow the seeds of conservation<br />
awareness in future teachers and media workers, who will<br />
then reach out to more people in the years ahead. Our new<br />
Conservation Education Sponsorship Programme adopted the<br />
theme of giant panda conservation, focusing on the lesserknown<br />
Qinling population. In the first year of this threeyear<br />
programme, we sponsored 20 students from Hong Kong<br />
Baptist University (HKBU) and Hong Kong Institute of Education<br />
(HKIEd).<br />
In August 2011, Foundation staff and student representatives<br />
visited the Foping Nature Reserve to make plans for an in-situ<br />
conservation education programme. We then organised a<br />
training session on the giant panda’s biology and conservation<br />
status, and tasked students to design their own educational<br />
programmes and communication plans.<br />
The Foundation would like to thank Sponsor HOPE Education<br />
Foundation and Honorary Programme Advisor cum Sponsor Ms<br />
Lianne Lam to support this pioneer programme.<br />
