Seahorses are exploited for traditional Chinese medicine.<br />
Sharks are finned for human consumption, and dolphins are<br />
hurt by boats. On the ghostly occasion of Halloween, Ocean<br />
Park hosted the spectacular Republic of Halloween charity<br />
night to help guests better understand the plight of these<br />
unfortunate animals. The event helped OPCFHK raise $1.3<br />
million.<br />
Thanks go to our Title Sponsor, ANZ Hong Kong, which is<br />
not only a role model for its financial support of wildlife<br />
conservation, but also for engaging its employees to<br />
support the cause. Its support has directly contributed to<br />
the establishment of China’s largest Chinese white dolphin<br />
DNA bank, which now offers the scientific community a<br />
standardised genetic analysis platform for identifying the<br />
relationship between different populations of Chinese white<br />
dolphin. This new facility will play a critical role in assessing the<br />
sustainability of each population.<br />
