Product Overview
VICADS Server provides an Active Directory domain controller, the system
configuration and management interface, hosts the system database as well as
coordinates all core system services. VICADS Server is the communication broker and
event processor for the Command and Control Display Equipment (CCDE) equipment.
VICADS Server also provides the Network Video Recorder (NVR) interface as well as
other third party equipment interfaces like the ICD-0101A compliant interface to Widearea
Surveillance Thermal Imagers (WSTI).
VICADS Server has replaced traditional analog based CCTV matrices with intelligent
digital video switcher logic and brings this to the operator through a companion
program called VICADS Softwall. The system supports robust configuration
parameters such as alarm point priority assessment, automatic vs. manual call up
policies, automatic PTZ presets upon alarm and intelligent queuing logic for multiple
alarm scenarios to name a few. Each alarm point on the CCDE can be associated with
camera(s) for up to a maximum of four automatic camera views per alarm point. The
VICADS Server catalogs all alarm event history and spools off portable media video
clips (.AVI) of all alarm associated video.
VICADS Server has been specifically designed to provide a conduit for current
and future events in the video realm to be annunciated at the CCDE. This includes
items like Video Analytics events, edge based analytics and video motion detection.
Additionally the VICADS Server actively monitors all video system resources and sends
events to the CCDE for video Loss, IP Camera/Encoder Loss, joystick loss and critical
system component loss (i.e. NVR, Softwalls and Personal Viewers). These video realm
events are annunciated using a direct IP interface to the CCDE and require no SNMP
traps or other complicated techniques to deliver.
Finally, the VICADS platform offers single head end deployment arrangements and is
unique in the marketplace by offering a fully redundant capable VMS that can be setup
as a mirrored set of hardware in a primary and backup site arrangement. There are two
redundancy models supported by the platform: concurrent and non-concurrent. In the
concurrent mode both systems are always online and 100% functional (i.e. not a hot
swap or standby) and provide for automatic cutover of shared resources in the event of
primary system failure. In the non-concurrent mode the redundant system acts as a hot
standby and core system services switch from the primary to the backup automatically.
