Oracle WebCenter Real-Time Collaboration improves efficiency and
productivity by enabling users to connect and collaborate with others via web
and voice conferencing, instant messaging, presence, and chat rooms. It
complements the Enterprise 2.0 services available in Oracle WebCenter by
connecting users who require direct interaction and immediate response.
Oracle WebCenter Real-Time Collaboration is the most cost effective, scalable
and enterprise-grade solution for conferencing and instant messaging and can
be deployed as a standalone or with Oracle WebCenter.

Oracle WebCenter Real-Time Collaboration provides enterprises with real-time capabilities –
web and voice conference, instant messaging, presence, and chat rooms – to help increase
team efficiency, share ideas and communicate across geographic boundaries. Oracle
WebCenter Real-Time Collaboration is the most cost effective and scalable solution for realtime
enterprise collaboration.
Curb and Reduce Conferencing Cost Using Oracle WebCenter Real-Time Collaboration,
organization can extend conferencing reach to include more users while being while managing
their collaboration cost. The burden on IT and business managers is reduced as they can stop
managing “named hosts” licenses or estimating monthly cost from conferences charging per
minute per participant. With Oracle WebCenter Real-Time Collaboration, enterprises can
allow all their users, both internal and external, to participate in conferences as long as
desired.
Web and Voice Conferencing
Oracle WebCenter Real-Time Collaboration brings real-time online meetings capability to any
enterprise, enabling internal and external users to easily participate in a common, flexible
environment. Users can choose to create conferences as often as desired from large, scheduled
web seminars to ad-hoc conferences to support a variety of meetings to solve problems,
generate new ideas or facilitate conversations. Regardless of the client desktop, presenters and
participants can collaborate on a variety of operating systems such as for Mac OS X, Linux,
and Windows.
The presenter has a variety of options to interact with the participants while running their
conferring console. This includes options to share the entire desktop or specific applications,
record conferences for future playback, view thumbnail preview, and communicate with the
participants through the integrated voice chat and text chat services.

Meanwhile participants also have an easy to use conference console. Participants can manage
their viewing window to fit their needs from resizing the window to any size, maximizing the
presentation to fit their full screen, or zooming into or out of any part of the presentation. The
conference participants can chat publicly, request speaker rights, and request presentation
rights or to share control of the presenter’s desktop
Oracle WebCenter Real-Time Collaborations offers a fully featured voice chat tool that allows
one-to-one voice chats or multi-speaker voice conferences. Built on a scalable and flexible
Voice-over-IP solution, the voice chat service can scale into the hundreds of participants and
have dozens of simultaneous speakers.
Instant Messaging and Presence
Oracle WebCenter Real-Time Collaboration provides instant messaging and presence for
users to quickly communicate through a variety of standard based IM clients, mobile devices,
and portals. Instant messaging enables users to connect and message either single users or
groups of users through group chat or chat rooms. Users using Oracle WebCenter Real-Time
Collaboration can also set and view presence throughout the enterprise. Built on the open
XMPP protocol, Oracle WebCenter Real-Time Collaboration allows users to choose whatever
instant messaging client is best for their environment and their needs.
Oracle WebCenter Real-Time Collaboration also provides a Mobile Communicator for users
to stay connected to their colleagues through their mobile device. Supported on the Apple
iPhone, the RIM Blackberry, and devices supporting Windows Mobile 6, the Mobile
connector allows users communicate with colleagues through instant messages and syncs your
presence similar to a standard IM desktop client.
Facilitate Collaboration Everywhere
With Oracle WebCenter Real-Time Collaboration, users can a selection to utilize their realtime
tools whether on a portal, mobile device, or desktop. Through the use of JSR-168
portlets, users can access conferencing, instant messaging and presence through a variety of
choices. Portal support includes Oracle WebCenter, Oracle Portal, Oracle WebLogic Portal,
IBM WebSphere, and Oracle WebCenter Interaction.
This allows them flexibility to choose a desire client for their work environment or for IT to
determine the best client to fit their organization.
Oracle WebCenter Real-Time Collaboration features can also be integrated into any
application or custom solution through REST and SOAP APIs. These APIs include the ability
to programmatically display or set presence status, schedule a conference or initiate an Instant
Messaging session.
Decrease Risk, Increase Compliance
Unlike hosted conferencing models, Oracle WebCenter Real-Time Collaboration enables IT to
increase compliance by bringing collaboration in house to easily audit conferencing and
instant messages and record collaboration on site. It can further utilize the existing enterprise
investments made in IP telephony, rather than investing in hosted conferencing models.
Similarly Oracle customers can take advantage of the complete and integrated Oracle stack by
utilizing technologies such as Oracle WebCenter, Oracle Single Sign-On (SSO), Oracle
Internet Directory (OID), Oracle Enterprise Content Management, and Oracle Universal
Records Management (URM). Like all Oracle technology, Oracle Real-Time Collaboration
enables customers to easily scale real-time capabilities as their needs grow.
