The six girls in the house spent almost all their time playing with dolls and dollhouses; their domestic play was not to my taste although it was their favourite pastimes. On one occasion, I did something very naughty. I broke my mother’s favourite vase that cost a fortune. When my parents found out, I fled to the dining room and locked the door. Nobody knew I was there except Frank. That was when Frank betrayed me. He climbed in at the window, unlocked the door, and told my parents that I was in the dining room. He even encouraged my parents to punish me. That betrayal saddens me. Peanuts and candy, ginger-snaps and car-rides could not reunite the broken friendship as we stopped being friends. 48.
