This doctoral <strong>course</strong> focuses on the presentation of a thesis.<br />
The thesis should make a significant contribution to knowledge<br />
within a specialised area of health.<br />
Admission Requirements:<br />
Relevant Bachelor degree with Honours (First or Second Class,<br />
Division A), or appropriate Masters degree.<br />
CourSe StruCture<br />
Each semester students are required to continue re-enrolling in<br />
the thesis component of their study until the thesis is submitted<br />
for examination.<br />
Doctoral candidates will normally complete no less than two years<br />
and no more than four years of full-time equivalent study by the<br />
time their thesis is submitted for examination.<br />

The Master of Health and Aged Services Management is an<br />
award for people wishing to extend their health and community<br />
care management expertise through the study of applied and<br />
challenging topics. The <strong>course</strong> links closely with each student’s<br />
workplace and includes an option to undertake a workplace project.<br />
The <strong>course</strong> has been designed to develop management<br />
competencies identified in the literature and by experienced<br />
health managers as being critical to role effectiveness. Follow-up<br />
research on past graduates views of the program suggests<br />
that the <strong>course</strong> has a range of benefits including increasing<br />
competitiveness when applying for managerial roles and helping<br />
make management roles more enjoyable.<br />

The Master of Nutrition and Dietetics is a pathway to the<br />
profession of dietetics. The <strong>course</strong> spans community and clinical<br />
practice components, with some components occurring outside<br />
normal university semesters. Within the learning activities of the<br />
<strong>course</strong>, students are trained to understand and interpret nutrition<br />
science, assess nutritional needs, conduct research, and give<br />
dietary advice for general health and specialised requirements<br />
including medical conditions and improved performance.
