Core Goals
Increase access to promising and
best practices through
evaluation, research and
knowledge translation activities.
Access to current and promising information
regarding interventions and practices ensures
that resources are being used to address injury
issues in the most effective ways possible.
ACICR will bring together study teams of
experts, academics and practitioners to seek
knowledge about injury issues and to
determine, implement and or evaluate
innovative solutions to injury issues. The
ACICR will also encourage collaborative
interdisciplinary research efforts that are
reflective of the injury issues in Alberta with
an emphasis on the transfer of research
knowledge into practice.
Key Strategies
1. Provide program evaluation support to
community-based injury prevention
programs/ projects/ initiatives.
2. Provide support to develop research
capacity at the community level.
3. Conduct research on priority injury
issues in Alberta.
4. Provide evidence on the best and
promising practices in injury prevention
in a user-friendly manner.
Key Performance Measures
• Three evaluations were undertaken on
community-based injury prevention
programs/projects/initiatives.
• 14 applied research projects were
undertaken to study the determinants of
specific injuries as identified by
stakeholders and practitioners.
• Three consultations on evaluation and
research were provided to injury
stakeholders in Alberta.
• 56 presentations were made at local
provincial conferences and symposiums
to support programs.
• 28 articles were published in scientific
journals and local organization
newsletters.
• Supported delivery of CIPC training
sessions: one in British Columbia, one in
Alberta, three in Ontario, one in Quebec
and two in Nova Scotia.
• Supported the delivery of two CIPC
facilitator training sessions: one in
Ontario and one in British Columbia.
• ACICR facilitated 9 educational
opportunities.
