Journal Report
I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our many new
PHAA Members and I hope that you will all be with us for a long
time. This issue is aimed towards informing and helping new members,
and in particular those who may be new to the Western
show scene. ‘Older’ members may find some of the information
is a little basic, but as with training clinics
and schools, you may pick up some forgotten
detail or information that has slipped
your memory, or new rules or requirements
that you need to be aware of etc.

Quite a few people in recent years have
commented that Paint shows have lost
their family atmosphere and feeling of
friendliness that used to be an integral
part of our shows. And recently a lady
said something that to my mind really
went to straight to the point! She said “Don’t moan about the
‘problem’, become part of the solution! At the next show you go
to, say hello to the person who is camped beside you, and make
a point of helping at least one person each show day, even if it is
just a kind word.”
By the time this Journal is printed and distributed the foaling
and breeding season will be winding down and many Member’s
thoughts and efforts will be focusing towards the National Show,
to be held in the AELEC complex in Tamworth from the 2nd to
the 9th of March, 2011. The Board is working very hard to make
this our best show yet and with the assistance we are receiving
from many members things are looking very good. I hope everyone
has a wonderful and safe festive season and look forward to
catching up with everyone at Tamworth.

Vice President Report

Chris Stapleton, our Vice President, is in quite poor health at this
time and has asked me to write this for him.
He wants to apologize for not being able to do much in the way
of his portfolio work at the moment, and asked me to pass on
his thanks to the many members who have been sending kind
thoughts and words and offers of help.
In particular Chris wishes to thank Lyn Hoffmann for all the help
and ideas she has come up with, and also Megan Savill for taking
Chris Stapleton
on the job of putting together a structured
‘Sponsorship Package’ and doing such a
good job in actively seeking out and obtaining
sponsors for next Year’s National
Championship Show.
He also asked me to pass on his best
wishes to the Members for Christmas
and the New Year and hopes that everyone
had a successful (and colourful)
foaling season.
Amateur Report

Hi Everyone, and a Merry Christmas.
Hope everyone is recovering from the
breeding season, and I hope all went well
with healthy and colourful foals. Congratulations
to those that were at the pointy
end of the 2009/2010 Honour Roll. A special
congratulations to those who simply
got out there and showed their horses
and had fun doing so. I hope everyone has
a great Christmas and a Happy New Year,
and for those that can get away have a
great time.
Amateur Owners in NSW and Queensland should have received
their tickets to sell for the raffle. if you have not please contact me.
For the Amateur Owners who don't live in NSW or Queensland
you will have to contact either me or the office to buy your tickets
over the phone as we cannot sell tickets in other states without
getting a licence to do so. If everyone can have the tickets and
money in by the end of February 2011 if you are not attending
the National Show that would be great. If you are attending just
bring the tickets and money with you and pass them in to the
office or me at the show.
We do have an Amateur Owner meeting at the National Show
and all Amateur Owners are welcome. Please attend if you can
and bring some ideas for our next major fundraiser. It was brought
up at the Queensland State Show to run a foal raffle in 2010/2011.
If this is to go ahead we will need to get that under way as soon
as possible, so if you know of someone or yourself that might
donate a foal that is due 2011 please let me know before the
meeting and bring any information with you. If we do not get a
donation for this coming year then we will need to look at an
alternate fundraiser. Any ideas would be great.
Some of you may not be aware that the PHAA will have a select
Amateur Owner section starting 2011-2012 show season.There
will be some changes to the rules PHAA have in place at the moment
and there will be new ones. I am hoping they will be in the
next journal for everyone to look at and discuss. On this subject
I would like to take this opportunity to ask all the regional and
affiliated club to look at running classes for this section for the
members for their shows in the 2011-2012 season.This is just
something for clubs to think about before they send in their
program for approval for that season. I look forward to seeing
you all at the shows over the next year, and remember have fun
showing or it really is not worth it.
