Funding has been obtained for Driver Education through the Slosberg Act in <strong>Palm</strong> <strong>Beach</strong> <strong>County</strong>.<br />

Driver Education will be <strong>of</strong>fered at the following area sites:<br />

John I. Leonard Community High <strong>School</strong><br />

<strong>Palm</strong> <strong>Beach</strong> Gardens Community High <strong>School</strong><br />

Wellington Community High <strong>School</strong><br />

*Pahokee Middle/High <strong>School</strong><br />

REGISTRATION DATE<br />

Thursday, June 13, 2013 – 8:00 am – 10:00 am<br />

SUMMER SCHOOL<br />

June 17, 2013 – July 25, 2013 - 9:15 am – 1:15pm<br />

Driver Education <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>School</strong> Guidelines<br />

<strong>The</strong> following guidelines have been established to assist summer school site administrators preparing to <strong>of</strong>fer<br />

Driver Education at their respective summer school sites.<br />

1. All students must be registered high school students in order to take high school courses including Driver<br />

Education and must be at least *15 years <strong>of</strong> age by June 1, 2013.<br />

2. <strong>Palm</strong> <strong>Beach</strong> <strong>County</strong> public school students wishing to enroll in Driver Education must either register in person or<br />

have an adult register for them at the particular site they wish to attend during summer school.<br />

3. Private school students may register to attend Driver Education during summer school. Private school students<br />

must register at the school site in person to verify residency in <strong>Palm</strong> <strong>Beach</strong> <strong>County</strong>.<br />

4. When making arrangements for registration (June 13, 2013), school sites should prepare for heavy volume.<br />

5. <strong>Palm</strong> <strong>Beach</strong> <strong>County</strong> students must bring their student identification number with them on registration day.<br />

Private school students need to receive a student identification number and must bring pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> their current<br />

immunization records.<br />

6. Driver Education is <strong>of</strong>fered on a first-come, first-served basis and numbered tickets will be distributed upon<br />

arrival.<br />

7. All Driver Education teachers that wish to work will apply on-line and be selected by Eric Stern, <strong>District</strong><br />

Administrator for Driver Education. Driver Education teachers must have current Driver Education certification<br />

and meet the DELAP requirement to administer the permit test.<br />

8. All applicants that have been approved to work will be placed at one <strong>of</strong> the summer school sites.<br />

9. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Palm</strong> <strong>Beach</strong> <strong>County</strong> Safety Council (providers <strong>of</strong> the “Behind the Wheel” driving portion <strong>of</strong> the summer <br />

school program) has volunteered to assist us with school site registrations. Call the <strong>Palm</strong> <strong>Beach</strong> Safety Council in<br />

advance at 561-845-8233 to arrange for assistance.<br />

10. All Driver Education classes will be capped at 40 students.<br />
