Whitsunday and Mackay Islands Visitor Management Strategy ...

This Strategy provides the framework and guidelines for
managing visitors to national park islands in the
Whitsunday and Mackay area. It sets out the considerations,
outcomes and strategies that will form the basis on which
day-to-day management decisions will be made.
Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) recognises
that many of the national park islands in the Mackay and
Whitsunday area are subject to native title claims. QPWS
acknowledges Traditional Owners from the Juru, Gia, Ngaro,
Yuibera, Darumbal and Barada, Barna, Kabalbara and
Yetimarla peoples, who have a special cultural relationship
with certain areas of the Great Barrier Reef and islands.

Note that implementation of some management strategies might
need to be phased in according to availability of resources.
