PEACE AND SPORT AND TRACE SPORTS
TEAM UP FOR PEACE
Peace and Sport, the international organization under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco,
and TRACE Sports, the new brand from the TRACE Group dedicated to sports celebrities, have joined
forces to publicize the work of sports champions who act as ambassadors of peace.
In addition to being top-level athletes, many champions also work for peace and commit themselves to helping
vulnerable communities throughout the world which are trying to reconstruct after conflict or suffer from
extreme poverty. To support these champions’ projects and expand the scope of their operations, Peace and
Sport and TRACE Sports have combined forces.
Founded in 2007 by Joel Bouzou, Modern Pentathlon athlete and world champion, Peace and Sport aims to use
the values of sport to help educate young generations, encouraging dialogue between populations and more
broadly helping nations to improve social cohesion. Since the club was launched, 56 top athletes such as tennis
player Novak Djokovic, rugby players Sebastien Chabal and Jonah Lomu, footballer Christian Karembeu, and
athletes Cathy Freeman and Yelena Isinbayeva have become Champions for Peace, giving their time to benefit
humanitarian and social welfare projects.
TRACE Sports and Peace and Sport will produce television programs and digital media covering the achievements
of the sports-heroes-turned-peace-ambassadors. These documentary films aimed at the general
public will mostly be shown on the TRACE Sports program called ‘In The Name of Good’ which focuses on
charitable initiatives from great sports champions.
Olivier Laouchez, CEO of Trace explains: «This partnership builds on strong, shared values. Athletes have become
part of public life: their voices are heard and their actions set an example to their fans. TRACE Sports is going
to be spokesperson for their undertakings with Peace and Sport so that their actions for peace are better known
and therefore even more effective.»
Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport points out: «Great champions embody the immense
power of sport to build bridges between cultures, to break down prejudice and to bring about sustainable peace.
Through our partnership with TRACE Sports, we now have the opportunity to spread this positive message to
millions of young people passionate about their sports heroes and the causes they fight for. This is a great sounding
board for the commitments of our Champions for Peace and a unique opportunity to positively and durably
influence younger generations.»

“Peace and Sport, L’Organisation pour la Paix par le Sport” is a neutral and apolitical international initiative
based in the Principality of Monaco and placed under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.
Peace and Sport puts sport and its values at the heart of local development projects conducted within communities
in crisis around the world. Exercising its missions in post-conflict zones, areas of extreme poverty or
lacking social cohesion, Peace and Sport makes sport a vehicle for tolerance, respect, sharing and citizenship
at the service of sustainable peace.
Supported by governments, world sport governing bodies, international organizations, major international
private companies and international sports champions, Peace and Sport creates synergies between different

• A co-operation platform for peace and sport,
• The Peace and Sport Awards, to reward individuals and initiatives contributing to peace,
• Locally-Based Projects; concrete actions in different regions of crisis in the world
Today, Peace and Sport has operations in Cote d’Ivoire, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Israel-Palestine,
Timor Leste, Colombia and in Haiti.
Peace and Sport was founded by Joel Bouzou, current President of the organisation. Joel Bouzou is an Olympic
medallist, world champion of Modern Pentathlon and current Secretary General for the International Union of
Modern Pentathlon (UIPM). He is also Advisor to H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.
