Amir Dossal becomes a Peace and Sport Ambassador
Monaco, 15 December 2010 – During the 4 th Peace and Sport International Forum held in Monaco from
1 st to 3 rd December, Mr. Amir DOSSAL was appointed Ambassador for Peace and Sport, L’Organisation
pour la Paix par le Sport ».
To symbolize his commitment, he was presented with an emblem of a small Golden Dove by
H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, Patron of the organization, and by Joël Bouzou, its President and
Founder.
Amir Dossal is Founder of the Global Partnerships Forum, a new global initiative to address economic &
social challenges through innovative partnerships; He is also Special Representative of the Secretary-
General of the International Telecommunication Union for Global Partnerships and co-initiator of the
Pearl Initiative, which promotes transparency and accountability in the Gulf Region.
Mr. Dossal joined the United Nations in 1985. Over the course of his 25-year career, he has accomplished
many deeds with the common aim of uniting public and private energies for peace and social progress.
By nature philanthropic and visionary, he has worked to bring the governmental milieu closer to the
private sector and civil society in order to better serve the public interest.
From 2007 – 2010, Amir Dossal was Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Partnerships
(UNOP), which he established in 2007: Within this framework, he spearheaded several key strategic
alliances with governments, private companies, foundations and sponsors to contribute to Millennium
Development Goals. Acting as an interface with the "UN Foundation” he has attracted investments of
over $ 560 million from various donors, which have supported nearly 500 international projects for
women and children’s health, climate change and biodiversity.
In 2009, Amir Dossal was a key architect of a strategic partnership between UNOP, the UN Office on
Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) and Peace and Sport.
As a Peace and Sport Ambassador, Mr. Dossal will help the organization in its field projects and in its
activities to raise awareness amongst decision-makers in sport, the private sector and politics.
M. Bouzou declared: "With his rich career in the United Nations System and his long experience in
business, Amir has built strong links with governments, multilateral agencies, business groups,
foundations and philanthropic networks in a multitude of sectors. He is also an expert in issues related to
education, security, human rights, health and peace. His support and expertise will be extremely valuable

to help us accomplish our missions, particularly to strengthen our advocacy work with major
international decision makers. His commitment to Peace and Sport is long-standing. I warmly thank him
for agreeing to invest himself even more with us as Ambassador. "
Amir Dossal added: "I am very grateful for generous honour bestowed by HSH Prince Albert II and Mr.
Joël Bouzou. Becoming an Ambassador for Peace and Sport is a great honour for me. Given the
immensity of the challenge to create a culture of peace in the world I have always believed that
collaboration and public-private partnerships are indispensable. Peace and Sport works from exactly the
same perspective. I am more than ever convinced that sport is a remarkable catalyst for change, an area
of outstanding universal dialogue and an unequalled point of convergence between multiple actors
wishing to implement concerted policies. I am delighted to have the opportunity to support the dynamic
leadership of Joël Bouzou and his team to produce tangible results.”
Amir Dossal is the 12 th official Peace and Sport Ambassador and thus joins the following eminent figures:
