Hi Jenny,
Loving the weather & nice to hear from you.
On your query below, your assumption that it is impossible is quite correct. Should
the BRT schemes fail for any reason and not come forward for Full Approval as
planned, the money will remain in the overall budget for Local Major Transport
Schemes and will be allocated as required. There are no plans to bring forward any
other local major schemes that were not considered as part of the development pool
process.
I hope this clarifies the position for you.
On a slightly different note – I will be moving to a new post at the beginning of June
and will no longer be working on major schemes. Your new contact point here will be
charlie.sunderland@dft.gsi.gov.uk Our paths may still cross though as I’ll be working
on environmental policy for High Speed 2!
Best regards,
Hi there
Hope you are well and enjoying the weather!
I don't know whether you are the right person to ask but I am trying to clarify for a number of Bristol
campaigners, whether or not if a bus rapid transit bid fails (eg BRT2) that the west of England
Partnership can get the money switched over to use for the Bristol Metro.
I have told people that this is impossible but they say that the WoE could swing it if they wanted to. I
have said that the money would go back to London so to speak, but the campaigners say that it could
be transferred to rail. Could you please enlighten. I think some councillors could also benefit from
clarification.
Many thanks and best wishes
Jenny
