Explanation of the appropriateness of the assessment methods in assessing the<br />

intended learning outcomes:<br />

<strong>The</strong> assessment methods aim (1) to distinguish the initials, finals and tones of<br />

monosyllables and disyllables and words, (2) to understand the meaning of simple<br />

statement and short conversation in actual communicative situations, (3) to present a<br />

self-introduction in Chinese, (4) to master the vocabulary and sentence patterns<br />

learned, (5) to give the proper answers to the questions asked by teachers, and (6) to<br />

know the meaning of basic characters.<br />

All assignments are in continuous assessment. Each assignment will be evaluated in<br />

terms of criterion reference assessment.<br />
