assisted Hutchinson Area Health Care in
Hutchinson, MN, to develop a replacement
care center that PHS will manage.

What great assurance we have in the words
of promise from the Apostle Paul written to
the faithful of Philippi and to us. Consistent
with Paul’s instructions, we rejoice in the
many blessings of 2010. I’d like to share
highlights of the year.
We expanded our array of home and
community-based services and Creative
Senior Dining, now providing meals in
Minnesota’s Washington, Ramsey, and
Hennepin counties, and beyond. PHS also
received certification as a hospice provider.
Construction began on Carondelet Village,
our partnership project with the Sisters
of St. Joseph of Carondelet located in the
Highland Park neighborhood of St. Paul,
MN. This 259-apartment, continuum of
care community is scheduled to open
later this year. The project includes The
Consortium at Carondelet Village, an
initiative that optimizes access to the care
providers’ network in the community,
reduces institutional rates, reduces rehospitalizations,
and results in keeping
older adults at home longer.
We began renovation of our Lake
Minnetonka Shores campus in Spring Park,
MN. The entitlement process and planning
necessary to redevelop the Presbyterian
Homes of Arden Hills campus is complete.
We also received approval to begin
construction on Founders Ridge, a
108-unit mini-continuum located in
Bloomington, MN.
Following Paul’s guidance, we present our
requests to God for wisdom and insight
as we approach an uncertain future. This
uncertainty is due, in part, to the impact
of the economy on the older adults we
serve. We also anticipate funding cuts
to reimbursement as state and federal
governments face economic challenges.
As we look to the future, PHS is focusing
on optimizing service quality and achieving
clinical excellence. In addition to offering
care support for residents living in PHS
senior apartments, we will continue
meeting the needs of more older adults
in their homes through: Creative Senior
Dining; hospice; case management services;
geriatric nurse practitioner and physician
services. PHS will continue to develop new
senior living communities, but on a more
modest scale while maintaining a market
share consistent with other goals.
We will strengthen leadership through
recruitment and development. Fundraising
and philanthropy will get an extra measure
of our attention. These initiatives are
addressed on the next page.
We rejoice in what our Lord has provided
and give thanks for God’s many blessings
while we ask for spiritual wisdom and
guidance. Above all, we seek to honor
Christ by fulfilling our ministry to older
adults and serving them effectively.
