Creative Senior Dining
Creative Senior Dining (CSD) began the
Year 2011 as the supplier for nutrition
services to low-income seniors in Ramsey
and Washington Counties funded through
the Title III Federal Older Americans Act.
CSD offers over 80 entrees delivered to
homes weekly or daily. It offers In Touch,
a program for participants who prefer
weekly meal delivery, but also want a
daily check-in. CSD also provides hot
meals to 38 congregate dining centers
in the Twin Cities area including sites
that accommodate culinary preferences
of native American, Cambodian and
Sudanese communities. Over 4,000
seniors are currently served through
home-delivered or dining center meals.
A gift of $600,000 from area
foundations will advance plans for a new
commissary kitchen. Over 60,000 meals
will be prepared monthly at the kitchen,
located at the Hamline Center in
Roseville, Mn. CSD home-delivered
meals are also available for general

Hospice
Presbyterian Homes & Services hospice
care program received its first client
in October 2010. Hospice provides a
comfortable means of living out the
remaining days of life surrounded by loved
ones. Medical care, pain management, as
well as emotional and spiritual support
are expressly tailored to the needs and
wishes of the client and their family. An
interdisciplinary team of professionals
includes nurses, home care aides, social
workers, spiritual caregivers, counselors,
and trained volunteers. Hospice services are
covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most
private insurance plans. For information,

2010 Memory Walk—On the
MOVE to end Alzheimer’s
15 PHS communities participated in
Memory Walk events and activities during
the fall of 2010. Specific community
involvement is detailed on page 27. This
year, The Memory Walk will become The
Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This new name
for the Alzheimer’s Association’s signature
event captures the energy, strength and
determination of the growing, national
Alzheimer’s movement. The 2011 Twin Cities
Area walk will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24.
2010 MEMORY WALK: THE DEERFIELD
Croixdale Celebrates 50 Years
Celebrating Community Treasures is the
theme of Croixdale’s 50th Anniversary. Over
5 decades ago, Katherine “Kitty” Anderson
and the St. Croix valley Association of
university Women saw the need for
affordable senior housing. Through their
initiative, Croixdale opened in 1961 with 50
residents. Past years serving older adults
in bayport, Mn and the St. Croix valley
