1937 Wilcox Smith cover to New Zealand with KGV 2d tied by 'INNISFAIL' (Qld) cds & mss "T8/cm" in red, NZ 'TO
PAY/("8D")/...' h/s & 8d Tuatara in lieu of Postage Due tied by 'DUNEDIN' arrival cds, minor blemishes. [The rate
was 2d per ounce. The "T8/cm" seems to indicate that only 8 centimes was payable but that can't be correct. But
why would 8d be payable? The airmail rate was 7d so 5d shortpaid would have attracted a 10d fine, not 8d. The key
seems to be the flap, which is evidence that the contents were rather bulky, perhaps an approvals book. Such an
article could well have weighed between 2 & 3oz, which would mean underpayment of 4d, hence 8d due]
1938-39 long Guba cover with US 2c tied by New York machine cancel of MAY24/1938, then carried from the Dutch
Indies to Sydney, & finally on the Indian Ocean Survey Flight, with stamps of Netherlands Indies, Australia &
Seychelles (uncancelled) & superb 'C & W LTD/12JUN39/COCOS' transit b/s, signed by Expedition leader "Richard
Archbold", light central fold clear of the stamps: see AAMC #864-867a.{Page 44.7}
1939 commercial cover to Brisbane with KGVI 2d tied by 'AUSTRALASIAN SCOUTS JAMBOREE/BRADFIELD/...'
d/s, minor blemishes. Very scarce.
1944 commercial airmail cover to Brisbane with two stamps washed-off & ½d tied by Sydney machine cancel of
10/OCT/1944 & very fine boxed 'RECEIVED DAMAGED/BY WATER AT/GPO SYDNEY 3' in magenta, minor
blemishes. From flying boat "Coolangatta" which crashed in Sydney Harbour on 11/10/1944, with the loss of one
passenger: AAMC #984. Ex Rod Perry. [A remarkably fine survivor. Much of the mail was badly damaged: see the
next lot]{Page 46.1}
247 C/L D/B - ditto, large-part badly damaged front to an army officer with 4d Koala paying the Forces Concession Rate tied by
Hobart machine cancel of 10OCT/1944, forwarded under cover (not included) with the accompanying roneo'd
advice - the only example we have seen - from Army House at Sydney. Ex Rod Perry. [The addressee was
